Trump Bigly Uses AOC’s Words Against Her After Her Interview on Impeachment and Concerns He’ll Be Reelected

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY-14). Screen grab via ABC’s “This Week.”

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY-14) was on ABC News‘s “This Week” for an interview over the weekend where a wide-ranging number of topics were discussed. Among them was, of course, the impeachment debate as well as the 2020 election and if she’s ready to endorse any of the presidential candidates (she’s not).

During the interview, the freshman Congreswoman expressed her desire to see the President impeached, and said the issue went beyond polling and elections:

“Well, you know, I think for me this question has — should not be about polls, it should not be about elections. I think that — that impeachment is incredibly serious and this is about the presence and evidence that the president may have committed a crime, in this case more than one. And so I believe that — that our decision on impeachment should be based in our constitutional responsibilities and duties and not in elections or polling.

That being said, with the increase in polls I think the American people are now recognizing, in — in a much broader scale, the depth and the severity of the misconduct coming out of the White House and a demand to protect our institutions and protect the rule of law in the United States and — and at least opening an inquiry into — into possible misconduct.”

On the possibility of Trump being reelected, here’s what she had to say:

KARL: So, do you believe the Democrats will lose to Donald Trump if they don’t nominate somebody who is, in your mind, a true progressive along the lines you just described?

OCASIO-CORTEZ: Well, I think that we have a very real risk of losing the presidency to Donald Trump if we do not have a presidential candidate that is fighting for true transformational change in the lives of working people in the United States. I think that if we elect a president on half-measures that the American people don’t quite understand the agenda of a president, you know, a president that says we’re fighting for higher wages but we don’t want a $15 minimum wage, fighting for education but we don’t to make colleges tuition-free, fighting for women’s rights, et cetera, but we don’t want to go all the way with that, then I think we have a very real risk of losing the presidency.

Watch the segment where Ocasio-Cortez discusses her concerns about a Trump reelection below:

In response, President Trump took to the Twitter machine to rib the Congresswoman:

Naturally, that didn’t go over well with AOC, who apparently believes she’s the only one in America who can’t be “fooled” by someone from Queens:

Though she didn’t tie her concerns of a possible Trump reelection in directly with impeachment, the interview again raises questions about whether or not impeachment-happy Congressional Democrats are pushing so strongly for impeachment because they believe it might be the only way they can keep Trump from being elected to a second term.

Rep. Al Green (D-TX) has been on the impeachment train since shortly after Trump took office in 2017, and said last month he was worried that if Democrats didn’t proceed with impeachment that the President would be reelected.

Leftist Big Tech’s Censorship of Conservatives Grows Increasingly Blatant

Friday delivered us an amazing headline – containing an amazing quote.

Tech Billionaire to Joe Rogan: ‘The Left Has Won the Culture Wars. Now They’re Just Driving Around Shooting Survivors’

Who is said Tech Billionaire?  Naval Ravikant:

“Naval Ravikant is the CEO and a co-founder of AngelList. He previously co-founded Epinions (which went public as part of Shopping.com) and Vast.com. He is an active Angel investor, and have invested in dozens of companies, including Twitter, Uber, Yammer, Stack Overflow and Wanelo.”

Ravikant was a guest on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast – where Ravikant decided to wax poetic on Big Tech digitally killing conservatives.

In case you were unclear as to whom the “survivors” are:

“‘One great tweet I saw was, “The Left won the culture wars. Now they’re just driving around shooting survivors.” This is unfortunate for conservatives, but technology is a force that also pushes left.’”

Well all of that is certainly pleasant.  Well…it’s certainly obvious.

Here are some headlines – just from the last time we addressed Big Techs censorship just a couple of weeks ago.  It’s getting more and more blatantly obnoxious.

Pinterest Labels Live Action Content As Pornography – Then Bans the Pro-Life Group from Pinterest

Live Action is a reasonable and unoffensive pro-life group.  So to fabricate a reason to ban them – Pinterest had to absurdly classify them in a ban-able category.  Born was the absurd “Pornography” designation – which “allowed” Pinterest to ban Live Action.

Except conservative journalistic joint Project Veritas got hold of the story – and started reporting it.  So Pinterest’s Big Tech cohorts – kicked in with their censorship.

Twitter Suspends Project Veritas for Revealing Pinterest Blocked Pro Life Website as Porn

Oh – and…

Pinterest…Fires (Live Action Ban) Whistleblower

Because of course.

This wasn’t the only Big Tech censorship tag team of the last week.

Pinterest appears to really dislike Christians, so…

Pinterest Listed ‘Bible Verses’ on ‘Sensitive Terms’ List

…Pinterest again mis-classified Christian/conservative content.  So they’re teeing up a way to ban it.

Again – Project Veritas reported on it.  Again – Big Tech’s tag team censors kicked into high gear.

YouTube Censors Project Veritas Video Exposing Anti-Christian Bias at Pinterest

Then there’s black conservative Candace Owens.  Who forcefully but very respectfully speaks a lot of sense.

So of course…

Facebook Bans Black Conservative Activist Candace Owens:

“Facebook claims temporary block was a ‘mistake,’ but adds conservative activist to list of possible ‘hate agents.’”

Oh look – yet another ridiculous Big Tech misclassification.  Owens is a reserved and dutiful woman.  She is absolutely not a “hate agent.”  But that’s Facebook’s misclassification – to tee her up for re-banning.

Big Tech’s classification should be renamed “Agents We Hate.”

Oh – and while they’re at it, Big Tech is lending a helping hand to its Leftist fellow travelers.

Many months ago, we first addressed the legal protections Congress granted Big Tech – which they are abusing beyond words as they continue their digital drive-bys on conservatives.

Big Tech’s Lying Legal Two-Step – To Defend Their Censorship of Conservatives:

“‘Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act immunizes online platforms for their users’ defamatory, fraudulent, or otherwise unlawful content. Congress granted this extraordinary benefit to facilitate ‘forum[s] for a true diversity of political discourse.’

“‘This exemption from standard libel law is extremely valuable to the companies that enjoy its protection, such as Google, Facebook, and Twitter, but they only got it because it was assumed that they would operate as impartial, open channels of communication—not curators of acceptable opinion.’…

“To protect the Web as the wide-open and unobstructed ‘platform’ we all said we wanted it to be – the CDA immunized online companies from liability for things posted on its ‘platforms.’…

“From a free-and-open-Internet perspective – this makes a lot of sense.  Big Tech companies claimed they wanted to offer places where everyone everywhere could speak freely and openly – so they were afforded these special CDA Section 230 protections.”

Except with increasing frequency and obviousness – Big Tech is slamming closed its “wide-open and unobstructed” platforms – to conservatives.  Thereby violating the letter and the spirit of Section 230.

Some Big Tech mouthpieces – ridiculously still push the “We’re non-partisan” party line.

The Internet Association (IA) is a huge Big Tech lobbying group.  Some of its many impoverished members are:

Microsoft (Market Cap: $1.02 trillion)

Amazon ($929 billion)

Google ($764 billion)

Facebook ($535 billion)

Twitter ($28 billion)

Pinterest ($15 billion)

…so you know the IA is struggling to get by.  And its good they’ve all teamed up – because trillion-dollar-Microsoft couldn’t get a lot done in DC all by itself.

IA’s President and CEO is Michael Beckerman.  In defense of his members – and against the rising, bipartisan call for DC examination of Big Tech’s practices and legal protections – he recently, ridiculously penned the following:

“As more lawmakers speak out about Section 230, it’s important to understand that this section of the law enables us all to have a voice online.”

No, it quite obviously does not.

Big Tech mis-classifies conservative and Christian content – and then bans it.  Per their warping of Section 230.

Big Tech mis-classifies Live Action as “Pornography” – then bans them…per Section 230.

Big Tech mis-classifies Bible verses as “Sensitive” – so as to then ban them and the groups posting them…per Section 230.

And then Big Tech bans anyone publishing anywhere about Big Tech’s misclassifications and censorship of conservatives…per Section 230.

And Big Tech has been doing this – for years and years.

So when IA President and CEO Beckerman tries this in December…

Conservatives, Don’t Fret – Internet Firms Help You Succeed

You want to laugh uproariously – if the urge to get violently ill doesn’t overtake you.

As we know, all governments move S…L…O…W…L…Y.  The $4.5-trillion-per-year federal government – more slowly still.

Add in DCs nigh complete lack of technological understanding – and you have some real hesitancy to weigh in on anything Technology.

It is why we are still operating under the woefully and completely outdated 1996 Telecommunications Act.

The meteoric Internet – has left DC’s denizens in the dust.  And most of them are highly hesitant to revisit legislation – because they are wholly unsure how to write it.

But Section 230 is a small and targeted portion of huge Tech law.  And Big Tech is obscenely abusing it.

So DC interest in examining it – is finally, slowly rising.

God bless America.

The Editorial Board at the San Francisco Chronicle is out of its collective mind. In Sunday’s editorial, the Editorial Board writes:

Americans should not need to rely on the sound judgment and good ethics of a political campaign to determine whether it alerts the FBI of an attempt by foreign nationals to influence an election.

It should be spelled out clearly in law.

Good grief. It’s hard to believe they actually get paid to print such third-grade reasoning in a National Newspaper. These folks just cannot accept that although it was “her turn” to be President, the criminal crone from Chappaqua got soundly thrashed by Donald J. Trump.

First, they tried to blame the Russians for Trump’s election thereby wasting two years and 30-million dollars of taxpayer funds to prove exactly…nothing. Now that the Mueller inquisition, cleverly disguised as a legitimate investigation, is complete and found no evidence of illegal collusion with Russian or any other foreign actors, the left has turned to alternate routes to keep the issue alive.

Now, they insist upon legislation to require a report to the FBI every time somebody talks to a campaign. Using the example of Don Jr’s penthouse meeting, saying

A proper response by the president’s son would have been to alert the FBI about the email overture of incriminating information about Clinton. Instead, Donald Jr. replied within minutes, “If it’s what you say I love it especially later in the summer” — and accepted the meeting.

Hogwash. The Federal Bureau Of Investigation has a lot more to do than investigate and determine whether an innocuous contact or even a blatant offer of information, might be a crime. For the record, derogatory information, in and of itself, doesn’t count as anything of “value,” unless somebody can put a dollar amount on it.

As I noted in a previous article, this is just going to help the Russians to continue sowing discord and disbelief in the security of our electoral system.

I’m talking about the ultimate Russian objective, which wasn’t to elect a preferred candidate in the U.S. Presidential election, but rather to sow chaos and undermine the public’s faith in our system.

With the help of the Democrats, the press and of course their RINO enablers, the Russians were able to keep the first two years of the Trump Presidency focused on a 35 Million Dollar investigation that proved—nothing.

The left is going from stunned disbelief to downright insane. Under the leftists proposed legislation, we’d have to triple the size of the FBI, just to keep up with all the “abundance of caution” reporting it would require. The Russians, you know, the folks the left purports to be so worried about, are laughing their collective keisters off. That Russian FSB Lieutenant Colonel I wrote about? He’s likely been promoted twice by now because of all this. Nice work Democrats.

Pete Buttigieg Comes Out In Support of Israel and Democrats Aren’t Taking It Well

Indiana mayor and Democratic 2020 candidate Pete Buttigieg may have just ruined any 2020 chances he may have had after Vox put out an article detailing his support for Israel.

The left makes it no secret that they have a very sharp disdain for Israel, even going so far as to elect blatantly antisemitic people to Congress who in turn like to pretend they aren’t blatantly antisemitic after being blatantly antisemitic.

Vox released an article with a headline describing Buttigieg’s appreciation of Israel as a “strong ally” and that he’s behind the idea of keeping the US embassy in Jerusalem where Trump put it after he recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s true capital. To say this set off some hard feelings would be an understatement.

The Vox article leads off by describing Buttigieg’s penchant for supporting Israel and keeping the embassy in Jerusalem:

But Pete Buttigieg, 2020 Democratic hopeful and mayor of South Bend, Indiana, isn’t one of those candidates. While he’s no fan of Netanyahu’s leadership, he has shown a consistent willingness to back Israel.

He did so again on Sunday in an interview with “Axios on HBO,” in which he said he wouldn’t reverse Trump’s embassy-move decision and called the country a “strong ally.”

“I think what’s done is done,” the former Navy intelligence officer said. “I don’t know that we’d gain much by moving it [back] to Tel Aviv.”

They also posted the clip released by Axios where Buttigieg explained his position. He details that he doesn’t necessarily believe that Trump made the right decision by moving the embassy to Jerusalem, but at this point, the damage is done.

Even the Axios interviewer attempts to nail Buttigieg with suggestions that he sides with Trump.

As I wrote about how the media likes to create narratives with minimal messaging in an easily shareable tweet, the social media message Vox spread was that Buttigieg is essentially of the same mind as Donald Trump.

“Pete Buttigieg calls Israel a “strong ally” and says he’d keep the US embassy in Jerusalem,” tweeted Vox.

Democrats were quick to respond by dismissing Buttigieg as a viable candidate for President immediately.

It’s fascinating that they say that antisemitism is a disease on the right, yet Buttigieg made a valid point about the damage it would cause to move the embassy back and the nuance isn’t promoted, just the support for Israel.

The fact that Buttigieg doesn’t have a hard-line stance against Israel immediately cast him into a no-go zone for voters and media. I’m no fan of Buttigieg myself, but I can appreciate that the guy recognizes that Israel as a solid ally and that causing it problems only means more problems for us.

For the left, however, this is unforgivable. It’s so unforgivable that some leftists gave him the highest insult possible, and that’s a Trump comparison.

It’ll be interesting to see if Buttigieg walks back his Israel support during the course of the election or sticks to his guns. It’ll also be interesting to see how attitudes change toward Buttigieg from the Democrats side, and how the media addresses him from here on.

Here’s How You Know Vox’s Carlos Maza Isn’t Serious With His Latest Crying Over YouTube and Steven Crowder

Westlake Legal Group Crowder-620x355 Here’s How You Know Vox’s Carlos Maza Isn’t Serious With His Latest Crying Over YouTube and Steven Crowder youtube vox Steven Crowder Politics money LGBT journalism Gaywonk Garbage Outlet Front Page Stories Front Page Featured Story Exploitation democrats Censorship carlos maza bias Allow Media Exception

When it broke a few weeks back that Vox’s Carlos Maza was trying to de-platform Steven Crowder, we covered it extensively on RedState.

The simple explanation is that Crowder is a conservative comedian who mocked Maza’s continual promotion of his homosexuality while doing a rebuttal video on another topic. This was said to be out of bounds by Maza and others, as certain groups just can’t be made fun of anymore according to them. I personally prefer a world in which comedy can still target just about anyone, but what do I know?

Maza formally worked at Media Matters and is nothing but an activist parading as a journalist. He hosts a show Vox YouTube that routinely misleads and lies about anyone to the right of Bernie Sanders, so it should be no surprise that he drew the attention of someone like Crowder. Maza couldn’t take the joke though and decided he was being “harassed” (spoiler: he wasn’t), contacted YouTube directly, and is still waging a campaign to get Crowder banned from the platform.

Here’s his latest Twitter cry session over the issue.

At least he’s honest I guess?

Now, take this tweet from the same day.

Read those tweets and think about the implications. You’ll start to realize there’s a big problem with what Maza is saying versus what his actions are.

Here’s a serious question that deserves a real answer. If Maza truly felt he were being harassed and that YouTube “exploits LGBT people,” why is he still using the platform? In some scenario where I felt I was being exploited, the first thing I’d do is to stop whatever entity from exploiting me.

You know what Maza could do right now to stop YouTube from making profits off him? De-monetize his videos. YouTube would then no longer make a dime off him and everyone wins, right? If this is really about exploitation and not censoring free speech, as Maza claims, that’s the simplest, most direct solution.

Better yet, leave the platform altogether. YouTube has no obligation to bow to Maza’s demands, but Maza has the power to remove himself from their clutches of his own volition. Why not do so? Shut down the Vox channel and go to another platform. That’d make a real statement instead of the continued whining on Twitter.

But Maza won’t do any of that because he’s not actually a serious person. His crusade is simply about publicity and it’s obvious. YouTube is doing the right thing by letting Crowder remain. Kowtowing to Maza would only ensure thousands of other content creators (some of which the left like) would have to be removed as well.

In short, Maza should stop talking so much and put his money where his mouth is. Stop making cash off platforms you claim to hate and maybe you might be taken a little more seriously.

Moving on:

“By any means necessary.”

Those are words once uttered by the great Malcolm X.

Malcolm was a man with an open mind — who grew and changed with what he found to be true. His autobiography is excellent, his story inspiring.

Over the decades, his words have — like his name — been abused. His legacy has been called upon by people pushing for things which he would have — or did — oppose.

Here’s the latest usage: A newly-elected City Council member in Denver is out to accomplish her mission “by any means necessary.”

And what’s she shooting for? That’d be the implementation of communism.

As a reminder, that’s where government has all the power, and the citizenry has none — the opposite of capitalism in that regard.

When a leader praises communism, they’re shouting their desire to rule. The same goes for socialism.

America doesn’t need a ruling class.

But someone wanted it: Candi CdeBaca won in an upset runoff election in March.

Here’s what she had to say back during a candidate forum for the city’s District 9:

I don’t believe our current economic system actually works. Um, capitalism by design is extractive and in order to generate profit in a capitalist system, something has to be exploited, that’s land, labor or resources.

And I think that we’re in late phase capitalism and we know it doesn’t work and we have to move into something new. And I believe in community ownership of land, labor, resources, and distribution of those resources.

And so, whatever that morphs into I think is what will serve community the best and I’m excited to usher it in by any means necessary.

Allow me to correct her:

Socialism and communism are systems based on big business and monopoly.

The government is the ultimate big business. And the ultimate monopoly.

Communism and socialism are the ultimate class systems: They create two classes, pitting the rulers against the ruled.

Capitalism is about the little people. And lots of ’em. It’s about the small many rather than the large few.

Unfortunately, I believe we are indeed in a late phase in America, as Candi suggested: We are seeing the death throes of awareness. Of knowledge.

These days, people hear references to political concepts bandied about; subsequently, they put markers to posterboard and yell in the terms’ favor or against their tyranny. Yet, some of the biggest mouths fail to discover the meanings of the words (see here and here).

And as one phase ends, we’re looking into the face of an era of unprecedented ignorance.

So we end up with the video above.

Malcolm, before he was enlightened, was open to the necessity of violence. Is Candi? Watch the video, and you tell me.

-ALEX

Apparently the Democratic war on pro-lifers now extends to events and conferences that have nothing whatsoever to do with the abortion debate.

According a report from the Fox News, Rep. Will Hurd (R-TX-23) was disinvited from an August cybersecurity conference last week because he is pro-life:

Hurd, a former undercover CIA officer and an advocate for cybersecurity on Capitol Hill, was invited to speak at Black Hat, one of biggest cyber security conferences in the country, being held in Las Vegas in August. But Tech Crunch security editor Zach Whittaker highlighted on Thursday what he described was Hurd’s “terrible voting record on women’s rights.” It includes voting against funding for Planned Parenthood, programs supporting women in STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) fields, and his support on restricting late-term abortions.

Black Hat initially defended its decision to invite Hurd, saying in a statement “Hurd has a strong background in computer science and information security and has served as an advocate for specific cybersecurity initiatives in Congress,” adding that he will offer a “unique perspective” at the conference.

That did not, however, halt the uproar from the cybersecurity community, with some threatening to pull their involvement in the conference.

As a result of the backlash, Black Hat caved:

“Black Hat has chosen to remove U.S. Representative Will Hurd as our 2019 Black Hat USA Keynote. We misjudged the separation of technology and politics,” said a statement. “We will continue to focus on technology and research, however we recognize that Black Hat USA is not the appropriate platform for the polarizing political debate resulting from our choice of speaker.”

“We are still fully dedicated to providing an inclusive environment and apologize that this decision did not reflect that sentiment,” the statement added.

Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX-2) slammed the decision:

Yep.

I also wonder if anyone at Black Hat sees the irony in disinviting Hurd (who was not going to speak on pro-life issues) in the interest of not wanting to be seen as taking part in “polarizing political debates.” In axing him from the speaking engagement because of the fauxtrage expressed by concern-troll techies, that’s exactly what Black Hat did.

Hurd’s office responded in a statement:

“Representative Hurd was honored to be invited and hopes that the Black Hat Conference is a success,” said Katie Thompson, Hurd’s communications director, via email.

“Congressman Hurd has always sought to engage groups of people that don’t necessarily agree with all of his votes or opinions. That’s why Rep. Hurd is one of the loudest voices for bipartisanship in Congress.”

She continued: “This Congress alone he voted for equal pay for equal work, for the Violence Against Women Act and the Equality Act.”

Apparently that wasn’t bipartisan enough for the “you will be made to care” caucus. You are either 100% loyal to the pro-abortion cause, or you are the enemy and will be ostracized and shunned.

In order to really solidify their place as one of the creepiest magazines in America, Teen Vogue is now promoting prostitution and “sex work” with the article “Why Sex Work Is Real Work” and tweeting it out with the line “Yes, sex work is real work!”

Within the article, the author attempts to promote the idea that prostitution should be cared about by using the same tactic the social justice advocates use to make anything a sacred cow…by making them into victims:

Still, continued criminalization of sex work and sex workers is a form of violence by governments and contributes to the high level of stigma and discrimination. A systematic review and meta-analysis led by the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), for instance, has found that sex workers who have experienced “repressive policing” (including arrest, extortion, and violence from police) are three times more likely to experience sexual or physical violence.

The article even goes through the typical steps of talking about how this sex work falls under the umbrella of feminism, and that prostitutes suffer from police violence. The only positive thing it attributes to prostitution is the fact that legalized prostitution adds to the economy. Otherwise, it’s a woe-is-them article that doesn’t really justify why it’s shining a positive light on letting strangers pay to have sex with you to teen girls.

And I want to remind everyone that this is “Teen Vogue” publishing this article, a magazine that is aimed primarily at teens girls.

And when it comes to the problems of prostitution, teen girls and younger are the true victims. According to the National Institute 0f Justice, it’s primarily women who become prostitutes and enter the field at an early age as minors due to various reasons, including force, fraud, or, coercion.

While living this life they often go uneducated, become drug-addicted, and develop any true prospects in life. Abuse is rampant, and sadly so is murder. The risk to get a major sexually transmitted disease like HIV is also extremely high for prostitutes according to the CDC.

Oddly enough, Teen Vogue doesn’t mention any of this. In fact, if you were to read the article, you’d think being a prostitute is just an everyday thing that has no negative ramifications at all, except those who wish to think along moral lines. The article gives off the impression that sex workers wanting prostitution to be legalized, and that other countries do it, is evidence enough that it’s okay.

We know that because the author flat out wrote it.

“Evidence, not morality, should guide law reforms and sex work policy for full sex work decriminalization,” read the article.

Teen Vogue thinks that it’s doing something good by pushing prostitution on girls. That it’s somehow freeing and empowering them. What they’re actually doing is trying to lock girls into a life of abuse and danger that follows them around the rest of their lives.

Once again, Teen Vogue gives us another reason not to read them.

Turns Out the Reported Racist Delay of Harriet Tubman’s $20 Note Was Fake News

A few weeks ago, it was announced that a new $20 bill graced by Harriet Tubman wouldn’t be shown in 2020.

This set off a wave of condemnation and claims of racism backed by absolutely no evidence of such. We are supposed to believe that Trump dislikes non-whites so much that he personally intervened in the situation and delayed the project. Here’s a taste of some of the stories that got pushed out.

This from the Southern Poverty Law Center.

But this decision – like so many of Trump’s statements, decisions, and policies – clearly seems undergirded by racism and misogyny. It is not lost on the American public that candidate Trump opposed putting Tubman on the $20 bill in 2016, calling the move “pure political correctness.” He offered to consider placing her portrait on the little-used or circulated $2 bill instead.

Here’s Newsweek reporting random tweets as newsworthy.

While Mnuchin maintained the delay in the $20 bill that would celebrate Tubman, who helped free dozens of slaves through the Underground Railroad, came down to “security” issues, many have dismissed that justification as an excuse for what they say is a combination of racism and “deep-seated misogyny” at play.

And The Daily Beast had this headline.

On the Harriest Tubman $20, Donald Trump Puts His (Racist) Money Where His (Racist) Mouth Is

You get the idea. Trump is a racist who likes Andrew Jackson and he doesn’t want Tubman on the $20 bill so he got involved here and commanded everyone to delay the project until after he leaves office, which is weird, because the same media chattering class have told me Trump isn’t going to voluntarily leave office.

Now, more details are coming out and as per usual, there’s a lot more to the story and none of it involves Donald Trump at all.

The Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) fired back at The New York Times late last week over a report that Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin had intentionally delayed a new $20 bill bearing the image of Harriet Tubman for political reasons.

Here’s some of the official statement, along with a much more logical explanation of why a new note design wasn’t going to be shown in 2020. That’s important to remember because a new $20 bill with Tubman was never scheduled to be “released” in 2020, not even under Obama, despite the framing to the contrary.

Bureau of Engraving and Printing Director Len Olija confirmed in a statement last week that the BEP “was never going to unveil a note design in 2020.”

“To keep our currency safe and secure, it is unwise to give counterfeiters a look at a potential future note far in advance of a note going into circulation,” Olija wrote. “Additionally, if the concept of a note that was made public by the government were to change during that lengthy amount of time, it would create confusion in the global marketplace, further aiding counterfeiters.”

Olija then dispelled the Times’ reporting, writing that “no Bureau or Department official has ‘scrapped’ anything; it is too early to develop an integrated concept or design until security features are finalized. The aesthetics or look of the note has always come after and been driven by the security features.”

“The illustration published by the New York Times was a copy of an old Series note with the signatures of former officials, with a different image imposed on it,” Olija concluded. “It is not a new $20 note, as incorrectly stated by the New York Times, in any way, shape or form. The facsimile contained no security features or offset printing included on currency notes. There is nothing about that illustration that even begins to meet technical requirements for the next family of notes.”

The rest of the story here is that the Secret Service have been working on new security features to thwart counter-fitters for years. These will appear on the $10 and $5 bills first. Because there work is not completed yet, there is noway to actually reveal a new $20 bill design, nor is that something the Engraving Bureau would do anyway before going into print. In the sense that there is any “delay,” it’s spawned by the ongoing technological challenges in dealing with counter fitting.

Here’s the thing that’s frustrating about the reporting on this. If you read The New York Times article, you can pick out bits and pieces that add up to exactly what Olija says in the statement. Yet, the Times chose to fill their print space with wild conjecture and anonymously sourced nonsense to push a narrative anyway. There’s also the reality that Trump’s administration leaks like a sieve. If there was some grand conspiracy spurred by the President to delay the new $20 design, there’d be evidence of that out there.

A complete misconstruing of facts is also at play. As noted, the Tubman bill was never going to be released in 2020 and it’s still coming within a similar time frame as laid out by the Obama administration.

This entire thing is just nonsensical. Trump would have no incentive to purposely delay the project nor is there any evidence he intervened in any way whatsoever. Media outlets could have done the responsible thing here and not reported rank speculation and race baiting, but they chose to throw baseless red meat to the conspiratorial left anyway. They were, of course, happy to gobble it up.

Wild Haired Socialist Won’t Answer If He Still Wants Government Takeover of Major Industry

UNITED STATES – JANUARY 16: Senate Budget Committee ranking member Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt. holds a news conference on the budget on Friday, Jan. 16, 2015. (Photo By Bill Clark/CQ Roll Call)

This should probably be disqualifying, or at least it would be if our political system still existed in some realm of sanity.

Bernie Sanders has had an affinity for socialism for a long time. He famously praised the Soviet Union on film back in the 80s and vacationed there with his wife. Since then, he’s tried to moderate his choice of role model by claiming Scandinavian socialism is his drug of choice now. You know, because citing the Soviets doesn’t really work anymore, with all of the murder and starvation and whatnot.

So has Bernie really changed? Nah, he’s still red at heart.

The background on this is that in the 1970s, Sanders pointedly said that he favored “public ownership” (i.e. government ownership) of banks, utilities, and “major industries.” There’s no other word to describe that except communism, a system that has led to nothing but death, despair, and tyranny over it’s lifetime as an ideology.

Chris Wallace asks him if he still supports that and Sanders deflects. A normal person would be able to answer that in about two seconds but Sanders isn’t a normal person. He’s conflicted at his core. He truly believes top-down communism is the way to go but he also knows that he can’t quite say that yet, not even in 2019.

Instead, what you get in this clip is laughable obfuscation where he ignores the fact that he said “public ownership” of “major industries” and instead riffs about how publicly owned utilities are awesome (spoiler: they aren’t). Sanders then says something about credit unions because that’s all he meant you guys. He wasn’t really pushing for Russian style socialism all these years. No, he just wants credit unions.

Everyone knows what Sanders really believes and he’s made it no secret over his career. A career that consists of getting thrown off a commune for laziness and then entering public office, where he’s never produced a single thing of value. The fact that he’s even being considered for as a serious Presidential candidate shows just how far crazy the far left have gone in this country. Sanders is every stereotype of your typical communist rolled into one wild haired old man. He doesn’t practice what he preaches. He owns three houses but lectures others on having too much money. He wants Americans to pay higher taxes while he can’t even be bothered to give 1% of his income to charity to help those in need.

Despite Sanders’ hypocrisy and the weight of history crushing his ideology, major portions of the voting public actually back this man and his ideas. It’s a scary proposition that large portions of younger generations also think “socialism” is the answer. Answer to what exactly? Who knows, as the economy is booming and opportunity is overflowing. But someone, somewhere doesn’t have as much as someone else so we’ve now got to burn the whole system down that created the most prosperous society in human history. It’s just ludicrous on its face.

Unfortunately though, the American public may have to learn the lessons of socialism the hard way, as more and more seem eager to embrace it.
