Oreos: Not just a cookie anymore, now a political statement

Westlake Legal Group 1b0fcdb1-18bb-47d7-84d7-0b1a4b04e262 Oreos: Not just a cookie anymore, now a political statement The Blog solar power pronoun packs pride month NCTE liberal indoctrination LGBTQ gender identity

Just when you thought it was safe to dunk a delicious cream-filled chocolate sandwich cookie into an ice cold glass of milk, it happens. Your favorite guilty pleasure has gone political. Why, Nabisco, why?

Oreos, the best-selling cookie in the United States, is baking up a special edition of the tasty treats in partnership with the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE). The purpose of the limited joint venture is to indoctrinate school children on the use of pronouns as they relate to the LGBTQ community.

Share your pronouns with #Pride! The “pronoun packs” will be given to the teachers free of charge. Nabisco and the other parent companies of Oreos, Cadbury, and Mondelez International, have made a political decision to link arms with the NCTE and indoctrinate America’s schoolchildren into the transgender movement. You will be made to think that sexuality is fluid and gender is not limited to male and female even if it requires your children to be used as pawns. The party of science is willing to deny the existence of biological certainties, like chromosomes, in order to appease the politically woke.

As Joy Pullman points out in her piece at The Federalist the NCTE is a “massive organization” with influence over millions of teachers. They are far left political activists.

NCTE is the National Council of Teachers of English. While it sounds benign, this massive organization that affects millions of teachers all over the country—and helped write Common Core—has been politically far leftist for decades. For example, the organization came out against allowing trained teachers to defend themselves from active shooters using licensed guns. Its influence on actual English curriculum has been to degrade instruction with politicization and gobbledygook, according to the most rigorous research. Yet still they keep being treated as credible, just like all the other corrupt education institutions in this country.

You won’t find this rainbow Oreo on your grocer’s shelf. They are only being given away at a large LGBT celebration festival. Nabisco gets all the publicity from a one-time event without any of the standard outrages from consumers unwilling to allow companies to shove a political agenda down their throats, at least not without a fight. It is quite a sneaky sop to our social justice warrior betters. I don’t care which pronoun an adult uses, to be honest, it can be he, she, or (Cousin) It, but I do object when children are used for what amounts to political propaganda, especially at the hands of America’s school teachers. Especially in the case of the youngest students, leave the kids alone.

Besides pandering to the LGBTQ social engineers, Mondelez International is buying up solar power – enough to “produce 10 billion Oreo cookies” a year. How about a little global warming mantra with your cookies?

By agreeing to buy power from an under-construction Texas solar farm, the maker of Cadbury chocolate and Ritz crackers expects to slash 80,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions — or roughly 5% of the company’s 2013 global manufacturing emissions.

The renewable energy purchase reflects Mondelez’s desire to protect its agriculture supply chain from the threat of climate change, the company told CNN Business.

Mondelez International is a part of the “green the grid” movement, along with Facebook, General Motors, Adobe, and Bloomberg to name other big companies.

Those power purchase agreements help pave the way for new renewable energy projects like the Roadrunner solar farm getting built by Enel Green Power North America in Texas, which is where Mondelez is buying solar power.

“Renewables are becoming increasingly price competitive. We’re seeking to support that by scaling up,” Horrell said.

Mondelez estimates the renewable energy purchased is enough to produce more than 50% of all Oreo cookies consumed in the United States annually, or roughly 10 billion cookies.

“The more renewable energy that is produced, the more that fossil fuels are crowded out. These deals work in that direction,” Georgios Papadimitriou, head of Enel Green Power North America, told CNN Business.

I don’t have a problem with companies looking to use renewable energy but who is going to tell them that fossil fuels make the solar industry possible?

Almost in Time for Pride Month: The London Zoo Celebrates Gay Mating, Gay Animals, & Gay Parents

The ZSL London Zoo is letting everyone know that animals are gay.

In celebration of the notion that two penguins are gay, the zoo is giving the whole joint a “Pride makeover.”

On July 5th, in addition to its normal (18+ only) Zoo Night festivities, the London Zoo will teach attendees about gender, mating, and same-sex animal pairings.

From a press release:

On top of Zoo Nights’ packed schedule of activities, visitors will be able to learn about gender and mating in the animal kingdom at a Pride-themed talk, where they’ll discover just how common same-sex pairings are – from penguins and pandas to goats and giraffes. Visitors can check out the Zoo’s pride of lions, enjoy delicious street food from around the world, and score a hole-in-one at the Zoo’s new mini-golf course.

And if that ain’t enough, they’ve designed a special banner for Penguin Beach — home of the touted tuxedoed two:

“Get Over It,” in case you didn’t know, is the slogan for a gay anti-bullying campaign.

The zoo says Ronnie and Reggie — the fabulously homosexual penguin pair — got together in 2014.

They adopted an abandoned egg a year later, sharing parenting duties until the little chick left the nest.

According to the zoo’s website, the two birds “remain as strong as ever and are often found snuggled up in their nest box together.”

Of the 93 penguins living at the facility, the London Zoo claims Ronnie and Reggie aren’t the only ones who are gay:

The duo share their home with 91 other penguins, including fellow same sex couples Nadja and Zimmer and Dev and Martin, as well as one-year-old Rainbow who hatched during Pride celebrations last year and will celebrate her first birthday this weekend.

Who knew nature was so gay, right there in front of everybody, this whole time?

The Zoo may have a bone to pick with some people in France.

As reported by The Telegraph:

Penguins are not gay, despite new evidence of homosexual behaviour in the wild, they are just “same sex flirting” until they find a mate, according to a new study.

The homosexual behaviour of male king penguins has already been noted in zoos.

Now in a new study, scientists have found the evidence of male pairs in the wild. The research found that more than a quarter of the colony in Antarctica were in same sex partners, mostly two males.

In the past, it was claimed that penguins could not discern between the sexes because they looked alike. Male pairs in zoos in the US and Germany have hatched and reared ‘adopted’ chicks.

However, the new study by the Centre for Functional and Evolutionary Ecology in Montpellier, France found that the penguins are only pairing up with other males because they are “lonely.”

There are not enough females in the colony and the males have high levels of testosterone, which drives them to engage in mating displays – even if it is with other males.

Professor F Stephen Dobson, one of the authors of the study published in the journal Ethology, said the number of same sex pairs was actually lower than expected. When the colony was studied over time he found all the ‘gay’ penguins chose a heterosexual partner. A female pair also ‘split up’ to raise an egg with male partner.

What are your thoughts? Please let us all know in the Comments section.

And enjoy information about an all-gay zoo, the superiority of gay dads, furry gay parents having furry gay kids, and hatching rocks in the video below, “Gay Penguins Make the Best Parents.”

It’s Happening – the Straight Pride Parade is Almost Upon Us, & it Brings to Mind the Trendiness of Morality

Every now and then, a story of contrast brings to light the trendiness of politics.

I used to believe that principles of right and wrong are vastly self-evident — that morality, to a great degree, is a set of easily-known ideas.

But over the past few years, I’ve been unable to ignore the highly pliable nature of virtue.

Morality — as it turns out — is not a solid at all, but, rather, the thinnest of liquids.

And today’s notions of righteousness are no more permanent than have been pegged jeans, fly-away collars, pompadours, or poodles skirts.

Here’s a snapshot from this moment in time: Gay Pride parades are gigantically virtuous; Straight Pride parades are to be condemned.

Subsequently, Boston’s first-ever parade of the heteros has gotten the leper treatment.

Mayor Marty Walsh is definitely not on board. But he definitely is, if it’s gay pride:

To Captain America, gay pride may not be an irrational fear of heterosexuality, but the converse is true:

See much more in my coverage of the melee here.

As for the Boston Big Deal, Beantown’s opposite-sex-attraction affair is still on course.

Initially, the city rejected the man-on-woman-lovin’ extravaganza’s request for a permit. However, the mayor eventually said he can’t keep it from happening, no matter how crappy the concept:

“Permits to host a public event are granted based on operational feasibility, not based on values or endorsements of beliefs. The City of Boston cannot deny a permit based on an organization’s values.”

Yep — sponsor Super Happy Fun America filed a discrimination complaint and won ’em over. However, the organization was denied the privilege of having its Straight Pride flag flown alongside the Gay Pride one at City Hall.

Super Happy Fun America’s John Hugo explained the group’s intention with the parade:

“We want people to be aware that there is not only one side of things. There’s a lot of people that are uncomfortable with a lot of things that are going on in our country and they’re afraid to speak up.”

SHFA Vice President Mark Sahady noted, “This is our chance to have a patriotic parade in Boston as we celebrate straight pride.”

It’s happening.

The parade is planned for the end of August.

Upon last report, its Grand Marshal was a hilarious choice.

As for me personally, I don’t understand parades. Or fighting over recognition on a flagpole. People should wake up every day and be themselves, be and do as they can best tell is right — aside from the flavor of the moment, whatever that may be — and stand firm in that commitment.

To me, everything else is just fashioned fanfare and — like a parade — a crowded and noisy place from which I’d prefer to keep away.

New Jersey Mayor Bans the Gay Pride Flag, & Some Folks are Pipin’ Hot Mad – ‘The Pride Flag Stands for Inclusion’

Westlake Legal Group hand-sunset-white-vacation-military-love-1197982-pxhere.com_-620x426 New Jersey Mayor Bans the Gay Pride Flag, & Some Folks are Pipin’ Hot Mad – ‘The Pride Flag Stands for Inclusion’ wyckoff Uncategorized tom madigan pride month pow mia pix11 news New Jersey LGBT killed in action flag Government Gay Pride Front Page Stories Culture Allow Media Exception

In New Jersey, some folks are mad.

The heat comes from Wyckoff township Mayor Tom Madigan’s refusal to fly the Gay Pride flag at Town Hall.

Critics claim the politician isn’t adequately representing the interests of the public.

In front of the central building stands three flagpoles. They sport the U.S. flag, the POW-MIA flag, and the Killed in Action flag.

But Bill Walmsley says run the dang rainbow up one of them poles:

“Fly it…this beautiful flag. … Let them enjoy it.”

Another resident — David Ryan — asserted, “Fly every flag. Who cares?”

Every flag?

Speaking to New York’s PIX11 News, David’s wife also approved of a multicolored windflappin’:

“You are what you are. Be yourself.”

Such views were expressed at Tuesday’s town meeting, which included a presented petition of 1,090 signatures — of which more than half were from Wyckoff residents.

Mayor Tom ain’t into the flag thing, but he did order that rainbow ribbons be placed on light poles surrounding the building.

In an email, hometown boy Adam Padla told PIX11 that  flippin’ lightpole pins are dadgum insufficient:

“It’s inadequate. I faced bullying as a result of my sexuality throughout my time in Wyckoff schools. [It’s important] for children to feel the support of their community as they face opposition to who they are from peers on a daily basis.”

Perhaps it’s my sheepish nature, but personally, I wouldn’t want something that represents my sexual proclivities bein’ hung up everywhere; y’all just leave me alone.

But I’m different than Adam. What does a flag do for him? It “make[s] all residents — especially our children — feel welcomed in our town and not afraid to be who they are, standing up against opposition.”

Elaine Fichera wants her flag, and she wants it now:

“We want a proclamation that June is Pride Month, and that we will fly the flag.”

But there are reasons to say No: Remember that whole “every flag” thing? Well, it’s an issue.

As reported by ABC7:

[T]he council is worried that if they allow the Gay Pride flag to fly there, it creates what lawyers call a public forum, a place where anyone can give any message, even hate speech.

Nevertheless: “I want [my two young daughters] to live in a town where they feel loved and welcomed no matter what their sexual orientation is,” explained Erika Kao.

Another meeting attendee turns to the banner for comfort:

“It is a life preserver, it is a beacon of hope that there are people out there who accept me. To this day, 30 years after coming out myself, I look at it and it comforts me.”

And Ralph Passane demands inclusion:

“I’ve been fired from two jobs, I’ve been denied housing, I have been assaulted for being gay. Flying the pride flag stands for inclusion, acceptance.”

But there was another idea offered during the debate. One presented that should — but apparently, for some, doesn’t — go without saying.

Wyckoff resident Jack Albert pitched this:

“Protect the American flag. It’s the most inclusive flag in the world.”

Yes. It is.

What do you think? Should the Gay Pride flag be flown at City Hall? Please let us all know in the Comments section.

Slate Attacks Taylor Swift’s New Pride Month Song for Not Being Woke Enough

They say you can’t please all of the people all of the time, and when it comes to the diversity police at Slate and other liberal outlets, all too often you can’t please any of them, ever. Taylor Swift is Slate’s target this week, after one writer slammed her latest single as “annoying,” “pathetic,” and “hopelessly, insultingly out of place,” and another attacked her for a concert appearance at a gay rights movement landmark, because there was a Republican involved in the event promotion company.

“You Need to Calm Down,” Swift’s new song from her upcoming album “Lover,” dropped this week, along with a sherbet-hued lyric video that spells out the peppy verses advocating against anti-LGBT prejudice. Lyrics question “why are you mad when you could be GLAAD?” (a reference to the LGBT media monitoring organization) and extol the fun of attending a gay pride parade while counterprotesters fester in their misery (“Sunshine in the streets at the parade / But you would rather be in the dark ages / Making that sign / Must have taken all night”).

All in all, it’s a fairly standard little pop song, complete with all the production values a pop star like Swift can hire a team to provide.

It’s not Swift’s first foray in to LGBT advocacy — earlier this month she posted an open letter encouraging the Senate to pass the Equality Act and has long been a public supporter of LGBT rights — but apparently the standard of behavior required these days to be a true “ally” has been raised above all practical common sense.

Slate’s Christina Cauterucci was vicious in her denunciation of the song in an article titled, “Taylor Swift’s New Single Is a Teachable Moment About How Not to Be an Ally,” dismissing it as “queer-baiting” and a “careless pat on the head” to the LGBT community that’s “hopelessly, insultingly out of place,” “like watching a straight bachelorette party go nuts at a drag show.”

Among Swift’s unforgivable crimes, Cauterucci lists her “lyrical laziness” and a comparison to Lady Gaga’s song from eight years ago, “Born This Way,” complaining that Swift 1) is not bisexual like Lady Gaga and 2) the gay rights movement has more “mainstream traction” now so Swift’s song isn’t as revolutionary.

Complaining about lyrical laziness in modern pop songs is like complaining that the ocean has water in it — personally, I’m a fan of a lot of Swift’s music and look forward to this new album’s return to a more joyful, cotton-candy aesthetic — but the criticism of Swift not being able to be a gay rights pioneer in 2019 is both bizarre and unfair.

“Swift is clearly coming out in support of gays, which is much better than being against gays,” Cauterucci grudgingly acknowledged, but then claims that “Swift is promoting ‘You Need to Calm Down’ like it’s going to be the straw that breaks homophobia’s back.” That’s not an accurate statement; the promotion for this song has been in line with other recent Swift song launches, and her initial tweet simply had a photo showing Swift’s back with a presumably temporary tattoo showing the Revolution-era snake expanding into a swarm of butterflies and a link to the video, and the nonsense word “Gxgjxkhdkdkydkhdkhfjvjfj.”

Swift clearly likes her new song and is happy to share it with her fans, but none of her posts indicate she’s claiming to be creating a societal-shifting movement. She just supports LGBT rights and wants to dance with her friends and have fun.

Here’s a radical idea: maybe it’s a good thing a gay rights anthem by a pop star isn’t a revolutionary act.

I’ve long taken a libertarian view on this issue. (Two consenting adults should be able to marry, but legislatures need to address the issue because of the familial, property, and tax issues involved, and to protect religious liberties for churches, synagogues, etc. that should not have to conduct ceremonies contrary to their beliefs.) It’s a positive development that it is no longer a major headline if a famous athlete or actor comes out as gay, or if a popular television show or movie features gay characters.

Becoming mundane is becoming mainstream. If it’s no longer newsworthy if a celebrity is gay, that says something about societal acceptance. For the millions of LGBT Americans who just want to go to work, raise their families, and live their lives, it’s an inherently positive development that being gay is no longer shocking or stigmatizing, that the pressure to stay in the closet is diminishing, and they can just go about their day.

It’s an inherently positive development…except, apparently, in the eyes of the woke left. Swift’s open advocacy for a federal LGBT rights bill and vocal support for LGBT people isn’t enough, and it’s not entirely clear what would satisfy their demands.

South Bend, Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg, who has been a surprisingly competitive contender for the Democratic presidential nomination, has received similar attacks, including from Slate’s Cauterucci again, bemoaning that this “run-of-the-mill white male candidate” was insufficiently oppressed to qualify for the full set of gay bonus points.

Buttigieg came out while in office, married his boyfriend Chasten, and was reelected in a landslide. His small town constituents clearly weren’t bothered by his sexual orientation.

Both Buttigieg and his husband tend to favor the short haircut, button-down shirt and khakis look sported by many dads roaming around the suburbs. The fact the mayor of a small town isn’t walking around with rainbow glitter in his hair and tight leather pants doesn’t make him less gay, or his marriage to another man any less valid. If you support gay rights, isn’t it a good thing for an openly gay man married to another man to be able to be elected to public office?

It’s yet another example of the left continually redefining diversity to increasingly narrow and distorted meanings. Pete Buttigieg is gay, but he’s a Christian and dresses like an accountant, so it doesn’t count. Taylor Swift supports LGBT rights but is doing it with fluffy little pop songs instead of rioting in the streets or whatever mysterious act of contrition would satisfy the Cauteruccis of the internet, so it doesn’t count.

And heaven forbid a Republican want to be an ally. Nope, no room in the tent.

As mentioned above, Slate’s complaints about Swift include AEG, the live-event promotion company that organized Swift’s recent Reputation tour and a concert this month at the Stonewall Inn, the site of the 1969 riots that are viewed as launching the gay rights movement in America.

AEG’s sin is that its owner, billionaire Philip Anschutz, is (gasp!) a Republican who has donated to Republican candidates and causes. Slate, this time through writer Matthew Dessem, attacks Anschutz for donating to what he characterizes as “anti-LGBT” groups, specifically that Anschutz’s foundation had given “more than $100,000 to the Alliance Defending Freedom between 2011 and 2013″ and had also donated to the Family Research Council, Focus on the Family, and the Heritage Foundation.

On the other hand, Anschutz also donated $1 million last year to the Elton John AIDS Foundation’s LGBT Fund, which helps battle AIDS in Africa and has publicly stated that he “unequivocally support[ed] the rights of all people without regard to sexual orientation.”

Past support of an organization that was legally advocating for traditional marriage is enough to get Anschutz permanently blacklisted as a “hater” in the eyes of Slate’s writers. There’s no public statement of support, even giving literally a million dollars to a worthy cause, that can be sufficient to earn redemption.

And Swift garners their wrath for daring to enter into a business arrangement with this “hater” Republican to schedule her concert appearances (with a bonus freebie attack on capitalism!):

It’s true what Swift sings: Haters are going to hate. But you don’t have to donate money to them, like Anschutz did. There’s no ethical employment under capitalism, but if you have the kind of power and wealth Taylor Swift has, you don’t have to keep helping haters get richer if you don’t want to. And if all else fails, you don’t have to sing about it at the Stonewall Inn during Pride Month.

Well, as Swift herself sings, “haters gonna hate hate hate hate hate,” so I doubt she’ll be harmed by this trumped-up outrage. “You need to calm down,” Slate, and learn to just enjoy some silly happy pop songs.

Hasbro ain’t no has-been — it’s as hip as anything on TV.

Remember My Little Pony? Well it’s gettin’ an update, and they’re not just horsin’ around.

Right in time for Pride Month, Love Wins!Westlake Legal Group 2122 Woking the Toddlers: My Little Pony Introduces Its First Animated, Maned Lesbians on Discovery Family Uncategorized the last crusade Television pride month ponyville mysteries: riddle of the rusty horseshoe nicole duboc my little pony: friendship is magic my little pony michael vogel Mattel LGBT lesbianism josh haber homosexuality Hollywood hasbro Gay Pride Front Page Stories Entertainment discovery family Culture Barbie auntie lofty aunt holiday Allow Media Exception at MLP.

In an upcoming episode of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, the tiny tot cartoon introduces lesbian couple Aunt Holiday and Auntie Lofty, who take care of the character Scootaloo.

The episode — which will air on Discovery Family — is titled “The Last Crusade.”

On Wednesday, co-Showrunner Nicole Duboc told Buzzfeed it’s fantastically what My Little Pony’s all about:

“I think it’s fantastic that we can show that what truly defines a family is love — that, to me, is the core of My Little Pony.”

Writer and producer Michael Vogel said the lesbian ponies just happen organically in the story, and the toy company in possession of G.I. Joe, Furby, Nerf, and Star Wars was on board:

“Nicole and I thought this was a great opportunity to organically introduce an LGBTQ couple in the series, and we asked Hasbro and they approved it.”

For co-showrunner Josh Haber, it’s about first-priority importance:

“Diversity and representation are important for kids for so many reasons, and it’s my first priority on everything I work on.”

Michael explained that My Little Pony’s a paragon of acceptance, so ditto to the importance thing:

“With Josh and Nicole running the final season together, it was something we all wanted to do — bring this out couple into the final season and make them ‘officially’ a part of the MLP world. My Little Pony has always been about friendship and accepting people (or ponies) that are different from you. So it just felt like something important to do.”

The out-and-proud equine lesbians first made their appearance in a 2017 My Little Pony book, Ponyville Mysteries: Riddle of the Rusty Horseshoe.

This isn’t, of course, the first TV show for small children to feature homosexuality — in May, PBS KIDS cartoon Arthur revealed longstanding character Mr. Ratburn to be gay and featured his wedding.

Will Hasbro now sell the lesbian ponies as toys? I don’t imagine they won’t.

Looks like they’ll beat Mattel to the punch, despite my December article: “Mattel Eyes A Barbie Gay Wedding Playset.”

The culture sure is changing; and so is the landscape for young children.

As a side note, while culling through tweets by @mktoon, I stumbled across a new word.

Are you offended by My Little Pony’s horsewoman-on-horsewoman-lovin’ move? Then the term may apply to you. I’ll leave you with it here. You’re welcome:

Pride flag stolen for 3rd time in 3 months from Reston church

A rainbow flag outside the Unitarian Universalist Church is missing for the third time in three months.

Rev. Debra Haffner said that the 11-foot flag was stolen on Tuesday, June 11.

The church has been very vocal in advocacy for LGBTQ rights. It organized the first-ever Reston Pride Festival last year.

This year, the festival was held at a new and larger location at Lake Anne Plaza.

“We are deeply saddened that some person or persons have chosen to steal our flag and hope that it will be returned to us. More, we hope for an opportunity to create an opportunity for restorative justice with that person or persons, so that they will come to understand and accept all people, regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression,” said Haffner.

The missing flag was reported to the Fairfax County Police Department, which is investigating who tore down the flag.

Haffner said she fears the incident qualifies as a hate crime. She said her church is open to purchasing a flag for any faith community that requests it.

“We will continue to fly a rainbow flag on our property, even if it means buying a new one every month. We hope that other churches, synagogues and mosques will put a rainbow flag on their property, so that all will know that people of every faith in Reston support and celebrate the LGBTQ+ community.”

Until this spring, a rainbow flag has flown on UUCR’s property since 2017 without incident.

Washington DC’s Inclusive ‘Dyke March’ Bans the Star of David but Allows Palestinian Flags

How’s this for inclusive?

Washington DC’s “Dyke March” excluded Jewish participants carrying LGBT flags with the Star of David on ’em. The inclusive exclusion happened Saturday, which was exclusive of Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

I guess true inclusivity’s impossible.

The Dyke March celebrated diversity by letting everyone know ahead of time that “Zionism” wouldn’t be tolerated. They would, however, let in Palestinian flags. This, according to The Washington Times.

Same kinda thing happened last year in Chicago, as per The Daily Wire:

[O]rganizers at the Chicago Dyke March enforced a similar policy, ejecting anyone from the LGBT Pride event who openly expressed support for the Jewish state, even though Israel is one of the only gay-friendly Middle Eastern countries. Organizers issued the ban in support of “intersectionality,” and out of concern for “Zionism” within their ranks, which they consider akin to “oppression.”

Nice.

Yael Horowitz is one of the DC March’s organizers, and she told the Times it’s absolutely about about fighting oppression. You know — like those turds America:

“If someone would show up with an American flag but with the stripes as a rainbow, we would treat it the same way. I think what’s getting erased here is pro-Israel and pro-Jewish are very different things. Jewish stars and other identifications and celebrations of Jewishness (yarmulkes, tallit, other expressions of Judaism or Jewishness) are welcome and encouraged. We do ask that participants not bring pro-Israel paraphernalia in solidarity with our queer Palestinian friends.”

In fact, in the view of one official, pro-Israel signage is a downright threat to people’s safety. And everyone needs a safe space (please see here):

“The issue [with the Jewish Pride flag] is where the Star of David is positioned in a way that looks like an Israeli flag, it creates an unsafe space. It really is a shame that Israel took this symbol of Judaism and turned it into this nationalist symbol….I understand the Jewish pride flag is a symbol that a lot of Jews have come to embrace, but there are so many other Jewish symbols that we can use to express our Judaism, like a Star of David [on a necklace], like a yarmulke, a tallit.”

Wanna see an argument between women over wearing a star amid trying to give a collective “H*ll Yeah” to lesbianism (again, here)? I gotcha covered:

So remember, folks: If you go out with your big D shirt to fight oppression, leave your star at home. Or you’ll have to fight even more oppression. It’s okay to be a lesbian; but advertising your love for a tiny endangered country is on the outs. Apparently, despite the catchy slogan, at the Dyke March it isn’t true that “Love is Love.”

Personally, I’m not a group person. If the world was separated by Pizza Eaters, Taco Eaters, and Hamburger Eaters, you might find me alone under a tree with a plate of spaghetti. So groups is all Greek to me.

But I’ve noticed most people aren’t like that. Hence, news.

On the day gay marriage became the law of the land, the White House lit up with rainbow colors. That was in 2015.

The current administration doesn’t seem quite so federally festive.

As you may know, June — as designated by someone unknown to me — is Pride Month. Therefore, some U.S. embassies have requested to fly the gay flag on official flagpoles. You know what response that got? It got a Nope.

As reported by NBC News:

The U.S. embassies in Israel, Germany, Brazil and Latvia are among those that have requested permission from Trump’s State Department to fly the pride flag on their flagpoles and have been denied, diplomats said. Although the pride flag can and is being flown elsewhere on embassy grounds, including inside embassies and on exterior walls, the decision not to allow it on the official flagpole stands in contrast to President Donald Trump’s claim to be a leader in supporting LGBTQ rights overseas.

In contrast to supporting rights??

The Daily Wire proposed this:

As to why the Trump administration has denied the request remains to be seen, though speculation is it sees LGBT rights and pride as two separate issues. For instance, the administration’s recent call to decriminalize homosexuality in countries such as Iran stems from an ideological impulse to see individuals treated with dignity and respect, which makes it a U.S. diplomatic endeavor, not an LGBT endeavor. It would be as if the embassies were to suddenly put crucifixes on the front lawns to stand in solidarity with persecuted Christians.

Could be.

Trump’s gotten some credit from gay groups recently. As pointed out by the Daily Mail, he’s the first Republican president to promote Pride Month. And he’s made efforts to decriminalize homosexuality in other parts of the world. See for yourself:

Lesbian Jerri Ann Henry with gay group Log Cabin Republicans is pretty psyched:

‘To have any president recognize Pride is important to my community. To have a Republican president recognize that is massive. It’s worth noting that hasn’t happened before, and not anything close. … There will be many other issues we have to go to war over, but I will celebrate this. … I’m not here to say everything the president does is perfect on every LGBT issue, but I’m happy to compliment and celebrate the good things when I can get them. This is one of those cases and I’m so proud.”

Even so, BuzzFeed ran the headline “Trump Is The First Republican President To Acknowledge LGBT Pride Month, And Yet…”

And Democratic Rep. Don Byer tweeted a list of Trump LGBT crappiness:

“[He] banned transgender Americans from military service, opposed the Equality Act, blocked citizenship for children of same-sex couples, allowed anti-trans discrimination in homeless shelters, Ended healthcare protections for transgender people.”

Evidently, gay Wisconsin Rep. Mark Pocan’s on Team Byer:

“Just in the last month, the Trump Administration has fought to: deny citizenship to some children of same-sex American couples, strip protections for transgender Americans at homeless shelters, end anti-discrimination protections for transgender Americans in health care.”

But on Friday, Kellyanne Conway told reporters gay groups should be grateful to the Prez for “calling on other countries to do something that’s very important, which is to join the U.S. in decriminalizing homosexuality.”

And there was this:

“I’m old enough to remember the 2008 campaign where Hillary and Obama were arguing with each other as to who was more for traditional marriage. It wasn’t so long ago.”

It seems he is the gayest Republican president.

Regardless, it’s easy to see why Trump ain’t gettin’ it with some of the folks who want him in the trans trenches. After all, if he wants to really compete in the world of gay grandstanding, he’s gonna have to step it up to Kirsten Gillibrand level:

Flag, schmag — that’s Bush League.

Kirsten Gillibrand Produces the Single Most Awkward Moment in Political History

Westlake Legal Group facepalm-implied-620x436 Kirsten Gillibrand Produces the Single Most Awkward Moment in Political History Primary Race pride month Politics pandering Kirsten Gillibrand Gay Pride gay bar Front Page Stories Front Page Featured Story democrats Democrat 2020 cringe awkward

She’s bad at this. So bad that she makes Hillary Clinton look scarily authentic.

Kirsten Gillibrand is currently polling at 0% and looks like she’s going to miss the first debate. What she does have is name recognition though and that’s earned her a bit more media time than the other hangers on.

We are in the midst of “pride month,” which means all Democrat politicians must relentlessly virtue signal their support for something they otherwise don’t think twice about. Gillibrand is no exception. In doing so, she has produced what appears to be the most awkward moment in political history.

(clip is only a few seconds)

So many questions. For starters, how do you “work a gay bar?”

In the video, Gillibrand is seen swaying in her mom jeans, sporting a gay pride shirt and sipping a shot like it’s some kind of alien drink. At the end, she suddenly springs to life and shouts “gay rights!” in a manner you’d expect of a half-stoned college kid pounding beers at spring break.

What is this supposed to be? Who was filming this and how where they not on the floor laughing at the sheer embarrassment of it all? Could no one tell her, “look, this just looks ridiculous, let’s hit delete on this one?”

At some point, she’s got to pack this in, if only to try to keep at least some sliver of her tattered dignity intact. This level of pandering isn’t easy to come back from.
