Debunking the “abortion regret” narrative: Data shows women feel relief, not regret. In our study we learned that after 5 years, 99 percent of women reported their abortion was the right decision
You all do realize that the argument, at least the properly made ones don’t claim abortion is bad because it isn’t taken lightly. The argument is that in non marginal cases(marginal being rape, imminent death), a women’s want to abort a baby does not outweigh the life of the baby. This of course breaks down into the semantics of where the line is drawn about it being considered a life, which philosophy has a lot to say on the matter. But there are countless ways to defend how upon conception, day 1, a clump of cells should be treated as a life.
It seems the left and right conflate two separate arguments, the left says I can do what I want with my body, which the right isn’t disagreeing with. What they are disagreeing with is that fact that the clump of cells inside of you no longer counts as your body and thus you do not have a right to kill it.
The reason getting an abortion feels like a difficult decision is because one must find a way to deal with the fact they are in essence, committing murder. The reason a miscarriage at any point in a pregnancy feels so heartbreaking is because it is the loss of a life. If I was a woman, about to have an untimely baby, I’d probably want to abort it too… but who wouldn’t want to murder someone about to potentially ruin their whole life or at the very least take 18 years off of it?
