So, per the UCMJ, a superior is not allowed to make his subordinates buy anything from their private business. Like if they do it, it is a punishable offense. Like say a boss also owns a bar, if he tells his subordinates to go to the bar, its a no no. If he actually makes them go to his bar, he can be disciplined. Even if the spouse of a military member tries to sell stuff to their spouse’s troops, they can get in trouble. Just for reference, this doesn’t apply to one time resale of objects, like your boss can sell you a used car or fishing pole. Mine sold me a surf board, and even though he was the command chief for our base (highest enlisted on base), he still told the wing commander he was doing so.
