President Donald Trump abandoned his controversial bid to demand citizenship details from all respondents in next year’s census Thursday, instead directing federal agencies to try to compile the information using existing databases.

CA lawmakers pass bill requiring Trump, presidential candidates to release tax returns

Westlake Legal Group 8USugvbpXi-eZeBy7v1C4nd91J3teIrL_2iOso3wAqI CA lawmakers pass bill requiring Trump, presidential candidates to release tax returns r/politics

At this point I feel like this is a COMPLETE non-issue anyway. We have crossed a threshold where tribalism is so rampant that the president still has republican support despite constantly lying, betrayal of every christian value known to man, raising taxes and killing blue collar jobs via tarrifs, keeping children in camps with very little food and poor sanitation, allegations of child trafficking/sexual assault charges, admission to acts of sexual assault, sleeping with porn stars while his son was in utero, using racial slurs against political opponents on Twitter, allowing Russia to interfere in several of our democratic processes unchecked, purposefully revealing sensitive intelligence to Russian officials behind closed doors during state visits, etc.. etc.. etc..

Does anyone really think that forcing candidates to release their tax returns is going to have any impact whatsoever on people’s decisions? At one point it might have, but we crossed that point in Nov. ’16. There are far worse things happening that don’t even move the needle. Even if his tax returns unveil multiple financial crimes, it does. not. matter. Crimes have already been commited. Human rights violations have been commited. There is a new lawsuit against the president every single day.

R or D on the ballot and office door. That’s the only thing matters unfortunately.

When Does America Reckon with the Gravity of Donald Trump’s Alleged Rapes? In light of the new legal scrutiny of Jeffrey Epstein, it’s time to re-examine all the sexual misconduct allegations against the president.

Someone has to say it: he wasn’t convicted. He didn’t even stand trial.

No matter how awful the person or the crime, you are presumed innocent until proven guilty. It is a core tenet of US jurisprudence, and one that is conveniently, and quickly, ignored when bigotry or hatred is involved.

We must not create a court of public opinion but rather force our courts to be fair and impartial. I consider this a failure of our courts to treat every person equally regardless of ability to pay.

I think he is a disgusting assbag but we cannot convict him here. We don’t have all the facts, regardless what was said and by whom.

Teachers union sues Betsy DeVos over loan forgiveness program

Westlake Legal Group _DXeb_rr8-3hmcxUUyuCC8nePZjBQfnsiWB6tMjBmYo Teachers union sues Betsy DeVos over loan forgiveness program r/politics

It’s incredibly sad, but there’s a war on teachers in this country. While a lot of people do highly respect teachers, there are a lot of people, mostly Republicans who absolutely hate teachers and would make it a $12 an hour job if they thought they could. My dad was a teacher and my sister currently is and I hear the horror stories about how certain parents hate them.

As you mentioned, it seems like whenever the state government wants to cut costs they go after the teachers because they are an easy target. What’s crazy is that my sister works with a surprising number of Republicans and they always blame the Democrats for those cuts regardless of who actually made them. We they had to accept cuts years ago they just blamed Obama even though it was our Republican House, Senate, and Governor who voted to make the cuts. Snyder could have punched them in the face and they would have found a way to blame Obama for it.

Trump’s July 4th parade cost taxpayers more than $5m

Westlake Legal Group wF5rBwM-p4dQlOvjoAL-zfyPJU-Pog6PvcMmnvpWYNc Trump's July 4th parade cost taxpayers more than $5m r/politics

gaslighting title, though the article mentions additional costs

The $5.35m (£4.75m) spent by government does not include the $750,000 (£665,000) worth of fireworks provided by Ohio company Phantom Fireworks. Nor does it include the cost of the military flyover – which came out of training budgets, according to the Pentagon.

the flyovers cost over 2mil on their own just for flight hours alone, which also doesn’t include transportation of craft or tanks that were there or the personnel involved for all of that and DC’s costs were only for the local police efforts not for actual event security which is an additional cost.

his original plan for the event cost was an estimated 90mil, and it was scrapped due to the cost. Now with them trying to disseminated into different departments budgets to try and hide the cost, My guess would be its still pretty close to the original estimate for his event.

If everyone had voted, Hillary Clinton would probably be president. Republicans owe much of their electoral success to liberals who don’t vote

Westlake Legal Group KKjHnSpvyDiByceFsj-EWZYVZv_BkqUhVM-vHIgTZHU If everyone had voted, Hillary Clinton would probably be president. Republicans owe much of their electoral success to liberals who don’t vote r/politics

Sorry, I really hate to hijack your comment, but voter suppression is such a soft excuse.

2008

Obama: 69,498,516 McCain: 59,948,323

2012

Obama: 65,915,795 Romney: 60,933,504

2016

Clinton: 65,853,514 Trump: 62,984,828

Hillary had just roughly only 60,000 fewer votes than Obama did in 2012. Her problem? She failed to properly identify swing states. She ran an absolutely terrible campaign. Pair that with Trump getting 2M+ more votes than Romney did, campaigning in the right places, it’s clear to see how he won.

I’m sick of Democrats trying to put the blame on everything and everyone by ourselves. Obama in 2008 was a transcendent candidate. He was younger, black, charismatic, and he inspired hope. We won that election going away because the people took it upon themselves to vote for him.

And if I’m really digging deep and getting unpopular, I’m looking directly at the African-American community for not getting out to vote in 2016. They may be a minority, but with margins of victories so slim, their voice matters and their voice makes an enormous impact.
