Masculinity Is Not A Dirty Word

Westlake Legal Group Houston-hero-300x169 Masculinity Is Not A Dirty Word Uncategorized republicans Politics Front Page Stories Front Page Featured Story elections donald trump democrats Allow Media Exception

Masculinity is not a dirty word.

As I alluded to in a previous piece, there appears to be a growing tendency to associate masculinity with something evil or as some put it, “toxic.”

In a great rebuttal to this grossly dishonest meme, Devon Foley published an article aptly entitled ”Why we need Alpha Males.”

Although published back in 2016 and coincidence certainly is not causality, I find it interesting that this piece was published just as the antithesis of the Beta Male-Pajama Boy had burst on the political scene. Donald J. Trump bulldozed aside the field of Republican candidates who vied with each other as to whom could appear more “presidential.” Trump continued this, not once being afraid of being seen as “being mean to a girl,” telling Hillary Clinton, “Because you’d be in jail,” when responding to her purported fear of his becoming President and our nation’s de facto Chief Law Enforcement Officer. Right then and there, he guaranteed the Republican base would show up at the polls.

Foley addresses this in a more fundamental manner.

While it may be clichéd, there’s a lot of truth in the opening monologue of the father in American Sniper. There is evil, there are wolves, and a society needs strong, virtuous men – masculine men – to keep order and protect the weak. And it, too, seems to be an affront to today’s culture.

Foley goes on to state that these virtues are still needed, even on modern times, perhaps more-so. Here’s the money quote

If the good are not stronger than the wolves, what will stop them?

Democracy on its own certainly won’t. If we’re honest, democracy – like all societies – requires alpha males to keep order and to enforce the values of the society against those who would act on their own “wills to power”. Vote all you want, but if no one follows up the laws with force, they are meaningless.

Spot. On. Judges and Politicians may rule and legislate. Nations may sign treaties. But in the end, it takes alpha males to enforce those rulings, laws and treaties. A line somewhat inaccurately attributed to George Orwell, nonetheless expresses a simple truth.

People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.

Such a man, as I pointed out here, was Kendrick Castillo. When it came down to it. He saw his duty as a man, to protect the weak. His doing so cost him his life, but it inspired other young men to follow him and in so doing, saved others.

A Celebrity Couple Can’t Let Their Parents Meet For the Stupidest of Reasons, & It’s a Pathetic Commentary on What We’ve Become

Two Hollywood actors are dating. Could it lead to marriage? They seem to believe it may.

But one thing it won’t lead to — any time soon — is their parents meeting.

And why? Because hers are Democrats and his are of the Ronald Reagan sort.

Oh no!

Better not put ’em in the same room.

Modern Family star Sarah Hyland and her boyfriend, Bachelor in Paradise’s Wells Adams, are from different sides of the tracks. I mean, just the aisle.

And that makes a family get-together a no-go.

34-year-old Wells explained on his Your Favorite Thing podcast:

“My parents haven’t met Sarah‘s parents and for good reason. They both fall on opposite sides of the political spectrum and I’m just sure someone’s going to get into a fight about something.”

He hasn’t proposed to his 28-year-old sweetheart yet, and he says wedding bells are the only way the twain shall ever meet.

“They are going to hang out one time and it’s going to be at the wedding and the directive is no one is allowed to talk about politics.”

This is, in a word, pathetic.

I don’t mean Sarah and Well’s relationship. I don’t even mean their particular policy.

I mean the world in which we live. The America we currently have.

The lack of civility and respect permeating our nation (here and here).

The atmosphere that would lead Wells and Sarah to their conclusion.

Years ago, people didn’t brawl about politics as much as disagree.

But George W. Bush’s presidency brought Satan bumper stickers. Obama’s saw non-supporters labeled racist. And Trump’s era christened The Great Unfriending — on social media, and even within families.

Just pitiful.

If politics divide us, we’re sunk. We need a lot more of this.

And here’s the reality: Politics is the battle that never ends. Republicans are never going to win. Neither are Democrats. Each day is a new fight. And if you hang your associations on the idea of one day the world coming together on policy, you’re wastin’ your time. We have to learn how to disagree, and at the same time, get along. Be amicable. Respectful. Understanding. Civil.

Life’s too short to stay on separates sides.

Elizabeth Warren Guests on ‘The View,’ Doubles Down on Her Goofy Condemnation of Fox: It’s the Hatefully Profitable Failure

[Screenshot from The View, https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=29&v=fYTtjPn-cGk]

Here’s a stunning fact. Fox News is right-wing. Here’s another: CNN, MSNBC, and NPR are way over on the left. We all know this. All three networks have opinion shows — Tucker Carlson, Don Lemon, Satan — oh, wait, he doesn’t work at Fox. I only heard that somewhere.

As for proselytizing, let’s also not forget anti-reporter Jim Acosta (here, here, and here).

In addition to conservative talkies, Fox also covers the news.

Not to Elizabeth Warren, though.

In fact, to Pocahontas — who, in lieu (I’m assuming) of owning a mirror, was tricked by her family into thinking she was very, very (American) Indian (here) — Fox is a “hate-for-profit scam.”

As covered by RedState’s Brandon Morse on the 14th, Liz turned down an invitation to a town hall hosted by the network. At the time, her website boasted:

FOX NEWS INVITED ELIZABETH TO DO A TOWN HALL. SHE TURNED THEM DOWN.

A Democratic town hall gives the Fox News sales team a way to tell potential sponsors it’s safe to buy ads on Fox — no harm to their brand or reputation. So Elizabeth won’t ask millions of Democratic primary voters to tune into an outlet that profits from racism and hate in order to see our candidates.

Add your name if you’re with Elizabeth and take a stand against an outlet that profits from racism and hate.

Here’s a tweet from the same day:

According to Elizabeth, it seemed, Fox News was about to just dadgum tank:

Here’s one more virtue-signaling statement:

“I’ve done 57 media avails and 131 interviews, taking over 1,100 questions from press just since January. Fox News is welcome to come to my events just like any other outlet. But a Fox News town hall adds money to the hate-for-profit machine. To which I say: hard pass.”

Nice.

Ms. 1/1024th used her Thursday appearance on The View to give that whole hate-for-profit thing another heave-ho:

“Here’s how I see this, I want to go everywhere. Look at it this way. I have three brothers, older brothers I grew up with back in Oklahoma. One is a Democrat, do the math on this. I want to reach out to everybody. I’ve been to 18 states. I was just in Kermit, West Virginia. They describe it as the reddest of the red. We did a town hall where there were folks who quite openly said I voted for Donald Trump, may vote for him again, but wanted to hear what I had to say and wanted selfies by the time we got to the end.”

And all that diversity’s a good thing:

“That’s a good thing. I’ve been to a lot of different places, not just our early battleground states but to Utah, into Mississippi, into Alabama, and Tennessee and I want to keep doing that.”

Pssst. Elizabeth. You’re wasting your time in Alabama.

Then she did it:

“Here’s the deal about Fox News executives, and that is they’re running a hate-for-profit scam.”

She condemned the Ruper Murdoch company for giving a voice to those who are “anti-immigration.”

I’d like to make a correction: Immigration is the process of becoming a legal U.S. resident via our immigration system. To support that is to be pro-immigration. To support the sneakin’-in alternative is to be anti-immigration.

And again, FNC is a flop:

“Right now, advertisers are getting really antsy about being with Fox on a regular basis because they don’t want their brands associated with them.”

Meghan McCain stood up for the Fox:

“I was really proud to work at Fox News. I don’t consider them a racist organization I will say that. There’s so many people that watch that are really good people and I just think you’re alienating an audience. And for me it just sounds like you don’t care about the people who watch Fox.”

Even Sunny Hostin added a bit of a back-pat:

“There are journalist like Shep Smith and Chris Wallace that are doing very balanced journalism there.”

Touché.

If Fox News is failing, why’s there need for a boycott? If she believes she needs to hit it where it hurts, she must believe it’s a success.

As for Pocahontas’s claim that the network’s a bust: January marked Fox’s 17th straight year as the number one cable news network.

That’s some pretty profitable hate.

Men Without Chests

Westlake Legal Group Pajama-Boy-300x227 Men Without Chests Uncategorized Front Page Stories Featured Story

C.S. Lewis warned,

We make men without chests and expect from them virtue and enterprise. We laugh at honor and are shocked to find traitors in our midst.

Along this same line of thought, the Daily Wire published an interesting article the other day drawing a correlation between male physical weakness and socialist tendencies.

From the article

An academic study from researchers at Brunel University London assessed 171 men, looking at their height, weight, overall physical strength and bicep circumference, along with their views on redistribution of wealth and income inequality. The study, published in the Evolution and Human Behavior journal, found that weaker men were more likely to favor socialist policies than stronger men.

While pretty much confirming what most of us already knew, of course the article had to tie this concept into today’s leftist economic bugaboo, inequality.

Brunel University’s Michael Price believes this may be a product of evolutionary psychology.

“This is about our Stone Age brains, in a modern society,” said Dr. Price. “Our minds evolved in environments where strength was a big determinant of success. If you find yourself in a body not threatened by other males, if you feel you can win competitions for status, then maybe you start thinking inequality is pretty good.”

This is typical of leftist”thought.” Demeaning and degrading talent and achievement in order to make everyone the same. Of course making everyone the same will always result in everyone becoming dirt poor. I find it interesting that the article avoided the real conclusion. Weaker men tend to believe they have a right to the property that others have earned.

Steve Straub in the Federalist Papers, puts it more tongue in cheek. Here’s an extract. For the full piece, which many of us have seen before, click here.

Humans originally existed as members of small bands of nomadic hunters/gatherers. They lived on deer in the mountains during the summer and would go to the coast and live on fish and lobster in the winter.
The two most important events in all of history were the invention of beer and the invention of the wheel. The wheel was invented to get man to the beer. These were the foundation of modern civilization and together were the catalyst for the splitting of humanity into two distinct subgroups:

1. Liberals; and
2. Conservatives.

The point here is that like most good humor, this meme is based on truth. Liberal males, do tend to be weaker and more effeminate. This doesn’t do society any favors. I find it ironic that lately, women are now asking, “Where have all the men gone.” Gee, I wonder.

[Screenshot from https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vam54lhLEz8]

On Tuesday, I covered Planned Parenthood CEO Leana Wen’s freak-out over a “public health crisis”: Missouri’s set to become the first state with no abortion clinics in nearly 50 years.

The license for the abortion chain’s St. Louis location hadn’t been renewed. They only have ’til Friday.

Leana accused President Trump and America’s pro-life legislators of being “anti-women’s health.”

Just trying to dissect the argument rationally, why would you call the pro-life position “anti-women” when 1) so many women are pro-life, and 2) over 50% of abortions keep a woman from being born?

Anyway, back to Missouri, it turns out there are really significant reasons why the Missouri Health Department has threatened to shut down Planned Parenthood of St. Louis.

According to an inspection report posted by CheckMyClini.org, here’s a list of a few violations (holy cow, there are a lot of ’em):

Repeat Offenses:

  • Expired meds, IV fluids, and supplies, some as old as six years
  • Staff using single-dose injectable medications for more than one patient to “save money”
  • Medications not stored properly

Some of the violations could put the clinic in legal jeopardy:

  • The staff did not log their abortions over 18 weeks gestation
  • Patients not given their Patient Bill of Rights
  • The clinic did not send fetal tissue for pathology evaluation

A few other hits:

  • The refrigerator had not been cleaned in over 1 1/2 years according to a staff member (health care assistant) who had been working in the clinic for that period of time. He had no idea who was responsible for that.
  • Fire extinguishers were not tested
    No background checks on employees
  • There was dust covering equipment and supplies all over this clinic
  • Failed to properly sterilize instruments that are used from woman to woman
  • No infection control training on staff

See the complete list via this link.

As summed up by The Daily Caller:

Reports from 2009, 2013, 2015 and 2016 all showed similar and repeated violations. A 2016 report from the St. Louis Fire Department revealed that emergency services had been called 58 times between 2009 and 2016, or once every 46 days.

Real nice facility they got there.

Does that sound like a plus for women’s health, or does it sound like a crisis?

WARNING: GRAPHIC IMAGES.

RedState’s Bonchie previously covered the story of a man setting himself on fire in front of the White House Wednesday.

Here’s Bonchie’s description:

There was some kind of trans, yada, yada, yada protest going on at the White House yesterday. Apparently Trump is trying to stop transgender people from getting healthcare? I don’t know, I’ve lost track of all the faux outrages at this point.

During the protest, a man literally set himself on fire. And I don’t mean a small flame, I mean a full on, body engulfing inferno.

The White House has now announced the man died of his injuries.

The U.S. Park Police released a briefing saying the incident occurred at 12:25 p.m. on The Ellipse, south of the White House near 15th Street.

In a tweet, the agency explained, “The individual was extinguished and later transported to a local hospital for treatment.”

The deceased has now been identified as Arnav Gupta of Bethesda, Md. He was admitted to the ER with “life-threatening injuries.” He passed away Wednesday night.

Family members reported they’d last seen Arnav at 9:20 a.m. Wednesday, and they were “concerned for [his] physical and emotional welfare.”

Arnav wasn’t just a little bit on fire. He was blazing. Smoke filled the area.

According to a witness, the 33-year-old was running through the park before he lit fire to himself.

Here’s a far-off view of Arnav being extinguished:

Why would anyone do this? What does it prove? What’s the statement?

A man has died, for no reason.

Was it related to the protest going on? Was it a challenge to Trump’s presidency? Whatever the intent, Arnav’s message will go unheard.

Civil discourse allows our nation to communicate, heal, and grow. These days, there doesn’t seem to be much of it.

Either way, today Arnav Gupta is no longer with us. And the reality is, we may never know why.

On Thursday, Tucker Carlson laid into Robert Mueller on his Fox show.

Following a conversation with Department of Justice spokesman Ian Prior about Mueller’s Wednesday morning statement…

Oh, and if you’re not familiar with the statement, here’s a bit:

“If we had confidence that the President clearly did not commit a crime, we would have said so. We did not, however, make a determination as to whether the President did commit a crime. The introduction to the volume two of our report explains that decision.”

Alan Dershowitz, by the way, wasn’t a fan. In his op-ed for The Hill, “Shame on Robert Mueller for Exceeding His Role,” he offered this:

“He went beyond the conclusion of his report and gave a political gift to Democrats in Congress who are seeking to institute impeachment proceedings against President Trump. By implying that President Trump might have committed obstruction of justice, Mueller effectively invited Democrats to institute impeachment proceedings. Obstruction of justice is a ‘high crime and misdemeanor’ which, under the Constitution, authorizes impeachment and removal of the president.”

And check out this line:

“By putting his thumb, indeed his elbow, on the scale of justice in favor of impeachment based on obstruction of justice, Mueller has revealed his partisan bias. He also has distorted the critical role of a prosecutor in our justice system.”

Good one.

Back to Tucker and his impression, he called Robert Mueller the kind of guy “you sort of admire from afar” but the “more you learn, it turns out that they are sleazy and dishonest.”

About finding nothing via the investigation, Tucker proposed to Ian, “And so that was not good enough for Robert Mueller, and he had to push the country toward impeachment because he thinks it’s good for the country? What’s the thinking here?”

The guest agreed:

“I guess that’s what it is. It is really unclear. It was bizarre.”

Tucker explained that he doesn’t believe Congress will move to impeach The Donald.

The Fox host said Robert “seems like a patriotic character and served his country in Vietnam. By all accounts, a decent man.” However, “He believes it’s good for America on the eve of another presidential election for the President to be impeached?”

Move the crane. To the Right. A little more. Okay, drop the bomb:

“You know, the saddest thing about this moment is all the people you sort of admire from afar, and then the more you learn, it turns out that they are sleazy and dishonest.”

BOOM!

“And I hate to say Robert Mueller winds up in that category,” he lamented. “[I]t pains me to say that.”

I said for a long time that the Mueller investigation would roam the earth longer than cockroaches and the Rolling Stones. But on March 22nd, I announced the end of the probe (here). As a writer, it was the best news I’d ever been able to report, because I was sick, sick, sick, sick, SICK of writing about it. Dear Lord, let it end!!!!

But not so fast. It’s still here — Democrats are still trying to milk it. But squeeze as they may that withered udder, the cow dried up a long time ago. Please, for the love of PETE, Dems, let it go.

You’re being paid a lot of money: Do something worthy of it.

[Listen] A CIA Director Demanding Congress Impeach is Pretty Soviet, CNN Hot Takes, and U.S.S. McCain Fake News

Promoted from the diaries by streiff. Promotion does not imply endorsement.

John Brennan decided to weigh in on the Mueller statement and encouraged Congress to move forward with the impeachment of President Trump, nothing seems more soviet than a former CIA director issuing orders to Congress to go after the man who is investigating whether you abused your position to spy on political enemies. CNN had two interesting hot takes in the last day, first with CNN host Alisyn Camerato advocating for the murder of disabled children and Chris Cuomo gets caught not paying attention to what he’s ridiculing on Twitter when he makes a snarky comment on an NRATV tweet, which he obviously didn’t watch because he ended up ridiculing a rape survivor and is attempting to back peddle, you can read Sister Toldjah’s wonderful coverage of the blowback here.

An obvious fake news story was released in the Wall Street Journal claiming that the White House demanded that the U.S.S. John McCain be moved and covered up during President Trump’s visit to Japan. To anyone who regularly sees the media lying this one was a no-brainer on how obviously fake it was, and the majority of people made comments about how they would wait for the retraction before commenting, that is except for one person, and I can’t be silent and not call this out. Ben Shapiro did that thing that makes me really not like Ben Shapiro, he took the opportunity to bash Trump, while pretending to be balanced. Shapiro left himself an out by stating “if true, this is disgusting” but anyone with a brain knew this story was not true, knew this story had all the makings of standard fake news. Ben really wanted the excuse to spit venom about Trump without any of the responsibility of being held to the statements he would make, and I’m not going to be silent when I see this happen.

So we’ve all heard by now, over and over and over again; nobody in America is above the law, including the President of the United States.

Fine, fair enough. But the opposite is also true. Nobody in America is below the law, including the President of the United States.

The founders of our experiment in self-government understood the threats to liberty that an all-powerful State (King) could be if unchecked. That is why they designed our system of checks and balances, with its administration of justice, to give every benefit of every reasonable doubt to the individual citizen (defendant).

If we’ve learned anything over these past two years, it is this: the most powerful people in America haven’t been President Donald J. Trump, Vice-President Mike Pence and the 15 Senate-confirmed Cabinet Secretaries who run our executive branch of government.

Indeed, the most powerful people in America these past two years has been the un-elected and never confirmed by the Senate Special Prosecutor Robert S. Mueller III and his 18 hand-picked prosecutors.

Our duly elected President, who is also the top law enforcement official in America, has not sent or even attempted to send a single American to jail.

Special Prosecutor Robert S. Mueller III has sent 4 people to jail…and for crimes having nothing to do with the actual crime he was appointed to investigate. None of these 4 people the Special Prosecutor and his posse sent to jail were found guilty of colluding with the Russian government.

The 4 individuals are:

1. Michael Cohen. Cohen pleaded guilty to evading taxes.

2. George Papadopoulos. Papadopoulos pleaded guilty for lying to the FBI.

3. Alex van der Zwaan. Van der Zwaan, a Dutch citizen, pleaded guilty to lying to investigators about conversations he had with an American lobbyist for Ukraine.

4. Richard Pinedo. Pinedo pleaded guilty to identity fraud.

Others are still in the federal government’s crosshairs…but so far have managed to delay their sentencing.  None of their crimes involve actual collusion with the Russian government.

The founders never intended for such a concentration of power and legal authority to be placed in the heavy hands of unelected lawyers with a political ax to grind.

Therefore, it seems abundantly obvious to me that every American citizen, irrespective of political party, should rise up and demand that the appointment of a “Special Prosecutor” or an “Independent Counsel” never happens again in the United States of America. Enough!

Amid a Supreme Court Abortion Ruling, Justice Ginsburg Corrects Clarence Thomas: Pregnant Women Are Not Mothers

On Tuesday, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of an abortion law in Indiana demanding facilities provide the dignified burial or cremation of aborted babies.

Clarence Thomas agreed with the 7-2 opinion, but he called it a mistake to decline ruling on whether Indiana could bar abortions for sex-selection or eugenic purposes. But a particular part of his language riled Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

Clarence offered this:

“Enshrining a constitutional right to an abortion based solely on the race, sex, or disability of an unborn child, as Planned Parenthood advocates, would constitutionalize the views of the 20th-century eugenics movement. In other contexts, the Court has been zealous in vindicating the rights of people even potentially subjected to race, sex, and disability discrimination.”

In his written opinion, Justice Thomas also referred to pregnant women as “mothers.”

Ruth wasn’t much for the term, so she corrected her colleague:

“(A) woman who exercises her constitutionally protected right to terminate a pregnancy is not a ‘mother.’”

She also called Clarence’s opinion “more heat than light.”

His reply? Her opinion “makes little sense.”

Judge fight!

There’s a probably a sense to Ruth saying pregnant women aren’t mothers. Asserting they are, I would imagine, may result in questions or challenges to other statements she’s made. Still, the fact that she was compelled to make the distinction is, in my view, a reminder that we’re living in very, very strange times.

And I think it’s gonna get weirder.
