Intelligence Insiders: ‘Establishment’ Officials In DNI Still Withholding Documents From Attorney General

Westlake Legal Group Dan-Coats-620x349 Intelligence Insiders: ‘Establishment’ Officials In DNI Still Withholding Documents From Attorney General william barr Uncategorized President Trump pete hoekstra Paul Sperry Joseph Maguire Front Page Stories Fred Fleitz Featured Story Dan Coats

On May 23rd, President Trump granted Barr the authority to declassify any documents he and his team required to conduct their investigation into the origins of the Trump/Russia probe. The President also ordered the intelligence community to comply with all of Barr’s requests. According to Real Clear Investigation’s Paul Sperry, inside sources say that “establishment” officials inside the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) have continued to withhold documents which Barr has requested.

Both the Director, Dan Coats, and his deputy, Sue Gordon, left the agency on August 15th. Gordon was said to be a close ally of former-CIA Director Brennan’s.

Although Coats and Gordon have departed, agency officials have continued to “drag their feet.”

Sperry writes that the specific documents being withheld include:

1. Evidence that President Obama’s CIA, FBI, and Justice Department illegally eavesdropped on the Trump campaign.

2. President Obama and CIA chief John Brennan: key briefing still under wraps.

3. An August 2016 briefing CIA Director John Brennan hand-delivered in a sealed envelope to Obama, containing information from what Brennan claimed was “a critical informant close to Putin.” The informant is believed to have actually been a Russian source recycled from the largely debunked dossier compiled by ex-British agent Christopher Steele for the Hillary Clinton campaign.

An email exchange from December 2016 between Brennan and FBI Director James Comey, in which Brennan is said to have argued for using the dossier in early drafts of the task force’s much-hyped January 2017 intelligence assessment. That spread the narrative that Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the alleged Clinton campaign hacking to steal the election for Trump.

Copies of all FBI, CIA and State Department records related to Joseph Mifsud, the mysterious Maltese professor whose statements regarding Papadopoulos allegedly triggered the original Russia-collusion probe.

4. Transcripts of 53 closed-door interviews of FBI and Justice Department officials and other witnesses conducted by the House Intelligence Committee. The files were sent to the agency last November.

The DNI was created after 9/11 and is now the “gatekeeper” for much of the government’s classified information.

A source “close to the situation” told Sperry that, “There’s been a huge impasse in getting key documents to Congress and declassified during the Russia investigation. Several House members, especially Devin Nunes [of House Intelligence] and Mark Meadows [of House Oversight)] were upset that Coats refused to cooperate in releasing this explosive material to Congress…It was clear Coats was not acting on the president’s behalf and had been co-opted by the intelligence bureaucracy.”

Trump has reacted by shaking up the senior leadership of the agency. He has said he would like to eliminate the agency altogether, however, because it was established by legislation, he cannot do so. But he can certainly downsize it.

Navy Vice Adm. Joseph Maguire is currently the acting DNI. President Trump is expected to nominate a permanent Director after the Labor Day holiday.

National security consultant Christopher C. Hull told Sperry that “a new director might help break the logjam in declassifying documents for Barr’s investigation.” He added that, “it’s now toweringly obvious that some portion of U.S. intelligence worked to undermine Trump.”

Trump is said to have eight names on his shortlist. The top two on this list are Pete Hoekstra and Fred Fleitz. Hoekstra, currently the US ambassador to the Netherlands, is a former Congressman.

Fred Fleitz is a “20-year veteran of the CIA who also worked for Hoekstra on the House intelligence panel as staff director and, most recently, for Trump in the White House as an adviser on national security.”

The Director of National Intelligence is a cabinet level position and therefore, the nominee must be approved by the Senate.

Joe Biden wants to become president.

Therefore, he wants America’s vote.

White people constitute a majoritynot merely a plurality — of the country.

Therefore, Joe Biden wants to…slam white people?

Interesting strategy.

I can’t think of any venue other than politics where a person would insult the very people they should need in order to succeed. But perhaps I’m not considering the Democratic finesse of such a move.

As reported by the Washington Examiner, on Tuesday, Joe finessed his head off to a small group of reporters.

He also took the increasingly popular view that the 50’s were right: People should be separated as white and non-white (now “people of color”).

Hit it, Joe:

“White folks are the reason we have institutional racism. There has always been racism in America. White supremacists have always existed; they still exist.”

Did he forget he’s white folks, too? In fact, he’s worse: He’s white folks in power.

The former VP appears intent upon snagging the support of black Americans — really intent:

“The bad news is I have a long record. The good news is I have a long record. People know me — at least they think they know me. I think after all this time, I think they have a sense of what my character is, who I am.”

Do it to it, Joe:

“I’ve never, ever, ever in my entire life been in a circumstance where I’ve ever felt uncomfortable being in the black community.”

Is it just me, or in an effort to come across stunningly hip, did he just out himself as a winceworthily out-of-it whitey who grew up in the 40’s?

No matter, he wanted to heavily hammer it in:

“All I know is I don’t think anybody in the community thinks I am — what’s the phrase? ‘I know you’re not a racist, Joe.’”

Pssst. Joe. Stop immediately. You’re really, really not coming across the way you think.

“I don’t think anyone thinks that about me.”

Dang it.

He’s so earth-scorchingly UberWoke, he’ll probably even pick a running mate who’s maybe one of them non-whites:

“Whomever I pick would be preferably someone who was of color and who was of a different gender, but I’m not making that commitment until I know that the person I’m dealing with I can completely, thoroughly trust, is authentic, and is on the same page.”

Joe also slammed Donald Trump, saying a president’s words can “appeal to the worst damn instincts of human nature.”

But a better insult altogether came from a couple AP writers who covered this story.

Here’s what they had to say, and it’s pretty incredible:

By highlighting the nation’s racial tensions and placing blame on Trump, Biden is showing that he, too, is willing to make race a core campaign issue, but from the opposite perspective of the president.

They stated — as if it were a simple point of fact — that Donald Trump is making race a core campaign issue.

Who talks about race — Donald Trump, or the media?

And notice that Trump’s factually from the “opposite perspective” of being pro-non-white.

Dear All Left-Wing Writers and Talking Heads:

By and large, Donald Trump doesn’t talk about race. YOU talk about race. You talk about it and talk about it and talk about it, and then you talk about it. You never stop talking about it. And seemingly, every time Trump opens his mouth and talks about things which are not about race, you senselessly claim that’s all they concern.

Like a buncha maniacs.

Please stop. You’re making me spill my grape juice.

Love and Hugs,
Alex Parker

P.S. And to all y’all who are white: Please stop your institutional racism and white supremacy.

#Biden2020

How to Dismantle America: The 1619 Project

Westlake Legal Group slavery-300x165 How to Dismantle America: The 1619 Project Uncategorized Front Page Stories

This writer recently visited Boston including several historical sites.  My wife had traced her ancestry to the Mayflower (along with 35 million other people, I learned), so a side trip to Plymouth was in order (it was either that or Salem, but we had been there before).  In virtually every exhibit wherever we went, we were treated to some display of how the Indians were mistreated, had their land stolen, became inflicted with diseases carried by the white settlers, and had treaties broken (except one that lasted 50 years).  But, there was one museum that actually stated that in the future they were dedicating an exhibit to marginalized people of early Colonial America- natives, blacks, and even LGBT people including… and I am not making this up- queer Indians.

So, this got to thinking back to a trip we had made through Virginia three years back.  We made a stop in Williamsburg (I suggest a trip to Plymouth Plantation since it is more enjoyable and informative than Williamsburg).  On a previous trip to Williamsburg, we participated in a trial at the historic courthouse where my wife was accused of stealing a cow and I had to defend her from a pre-written script.  It was informative about colonial justice.  On the most recent trip, we were treated to a lecture about slavery by an African-American actor.

Living near Philadelphia (not really; I live 50 minutes away), we also have made trips there.  One new museum is dedicated to the American Revolution.  Many of the exhibits are long on social justice and short on actual history or military campaigns and strategy. It was a monumental letdown.

I will always remember that trip through Virginia and a walk through Richmond.  There was a very nice shaded park with a statue of some Confederate general.  Two black men were sitting there talking.  This was before Charlottesville although there had been some brewing controversies about removing Confederate statues.  Against my wife’s wishes, I turned around and asked these men what they thought of the statue.  The one replied: “Sir, we’ve been sitting here in this park for 40 years.  We don’t pay it any mind.”

I bring these stories up as a springboard to the so-called “1619 Project” being heralded by the New York Times and now other media outlets.  That project is based on one false premise: that we exist as a country because of slavery.  We exist as a country because people fled Europe looking for prosperity and/or religious and other freedoms.  It is silly to assert that all the explorers and all the colonists and all the trade companies came to America to establish slavery.  The fact that slaves were brought to America in 1619 was simply a by-product of the status quo in Britain at the time.  Yet, the 1619 Project asserts otherwise.

It is very easy to sit here 400 years later and impose our sense of morality and decency on people 400 years ago.  It is why the less-educated among us believe the three-fifths compromise is predicated upon the belief our Founders thought blacks were 60% human.  It is why they also believe the Electoral College is inherently racist.  In fact, the 1619 Project furthers the belief that slavery and negative attitudes towards blacks permeates the whole of American society from the first colonists to the present.

The 1619 Project is nothing but institutionalized white guilt being foisted upon the public disguised as an intellectual exercise.  No country in the world is without its faults in history.  Yet no country grappled with and experienced so much bloodshed to end the practice of slavery than this country.

The Left is pushing the 1619 Project as part of their more-broad war on Western culture in general.  They wish to engrain this misguided collective guilt upon all white Americans.  Their newest phrase is “white fragility-” a term to describe a white person’s difficulty and defensiveness when talking about race.  Apparently, the attempts are succeeding with younger generations of whites.  Young white Americans are the first generation to display out-group bias.  They are to the left of non-whites on the issue of immigration and are “…more likely to think that racial disparity is a problem that demands state intervention.”

In reality, there is not necessarily fragility in talking about race, but perhaps fragility when it comes to accepting the Leftist pablum when it comes to race.  When you repeatedly call a race “evil” because of actions 400 years ago, there is likely to be a backlash.  Just as there is no shame- nor should there be- in being black, Asian, Latino or Native American, there should be no shame or guilt in being white.  But, the 1619 Project’s aims are the exact opposite.  Every white American- even those whose ancestors arrived here well after slavery was abolished and those who can trace their roots to their arrival before the Civil War and having nothing to do with slavery- are obliged to feel the collective guilt because of their skin color.

The 1619 Project does a serious disservice to black leaders in the past like Frederick Douglas, W.E.B. Dubois, and especially Martin Luther King, Jr.  King’s vision of a color-blind society cannot be realized as long as the Left harps on race.  It has become institutionalized in our educational system.  There have been calls for the 1619 Project to be adopted into state educational curricula at all levels.  Personally, as a part-time educator, I am tired of taking a month out of the year dedicated to black history at all levels (even Pre-K) to learn that a black man invented the traffic light and gas mask.

A well-rounded educational curriculum would incorporate the tribulations and contributions of blacks, women, Indians and whatever throughout the school year.  But we not only fail to do that but now many are suggesting that slavery and its aftermath as regards blacks permeate the whole of American history and that it be presented in the most negative light possible.  It is designed to teach that despite the fact this country is a beacon of freedom and tolerance all over the world, we are not free and we are not tolerant.  By placing the “original sin” of slavery and black civil rights front and center at every turn in American history, it crowds out the more numerous examples of American greatness, ingenuity, and tolerance.

The 1619 Project is based on a single premise: white is evil and blacks are oppressed.  Every person without the correct skin pigmentation is a potential white supremacist yearning for the days of slavery or Jim Crow.  It matters little your ancestral connection to this country- you are guilty by virtue of your skin color.  You are privileged or fragile.  Only the elitist Left white pundits and historians are enlightened and not tainted with original sin.  They have correctly bowed before the altar of political correctness and been absolved of their sins.  In essence, they have apologized for being white.

This writer has no doubt that there are some blacks who feel slighted by a statue of a Confederate general or display of the Confederate battle flag.  But, I also believe there are many more who think like those two older black gentlemen in that park in Richmond who “don’t pay it any mind.”  Erasing the past- the good, the bad, and the ugly- is the same as either rewriting the past or concentrating exclusively on one aspect of the past to explain the entirety of the American experience.

The United States does not exist because of slavery.  To assert otherwise is to denigrate the legacy of those who escaped religious persecution in Europe or those who came to this country seeking prosperity and a better life than they could ever hope to achieve in their native land.  We are built upon the idea that all are equal before the law.  Admittedly, getting to that point was a long and arduous task with many dead bodies- black and white- along the way.  We are, as a country, predicated upon the fact that individuals are responsible for their own actions.  If you replace those two premises with identity politics and instilling collective white guilt through things like the 1619 Project, then you have succeeded in laying the seeds for the dismantling of this country.

Then again, isn’t that the entire objective of those on the Left?

[LISTEN] Everyone is Apparently “Exhausted” Because Conservatives are Finally Fighting Back

I guess I’m going to need to go on a rant about this because people just don’t seem to get it. Plenty of the business as usual beltway and legacy media types keep telling everyone how “exhausted” we are supposed to be about the political climate. I’m told that polling data shows how exhausted everyone is, and now the Washington and Conservative establishment are here to tell me how we can easily fix this supposed “exhaustion” I, and everyone else seem to feel.

Former Secretary of Defense Gen. James Mattis wrote and op-ed for the Wall Street Journal in which he said “We all know we are better than our current politics” which was even trending on Twitter, which is usually a sign that the Left attributes the quote as a repudiation of Trump. This same morning a Tweet from Conservative radio host and writer Erick Erickson says “Polling consistently shows Americans are tired of the current political drama and there are increasing worries about the economy. Anyone at the White House paying attention to this? Firing up the base isn’t going to help the people exhausted by the current climate. Of course I should always look at “True Conservatism” from the Bulwark to see what real Conservatives who haven’t fallen under the Trump spell are thinking and they seem to be celebrating “getting under Trump’s skin” by lying about Joe Walsh being blocked by Trump on Twitter, because that is supposed to be important.

Let me explain for those of you who don’t know a lot about me, I’m 34 years old. I was born in 1985 so I come from a different generation than many who comment on politics. One of the reasons I started my podcast was because I wasn’t getting what I needed from mainstream Conservative talk, and full transparency, I was really tired of hearing pundits who never served in the military constantly use me and my service as a club to beat their opposition, but that’s a story for another time. My point is this, I’m tired of the business as usual Washington establishment, and the legacy Conservative pundits wanting life to go back to “normal”, it’s not happening.

Stop trying to wish yourselves back to your easy lives scrolling the drudge report to see what Obama policy you could complain about for your three hour daily program, and then ridicule Congress for not taking enough action. Quit wishing for the days where you could tell your audience about the Democrat media complex and how they’re indoctrinating kids in higher education and that Obama is just an Alinski activist who is playing community organizer-in-chief. You’re not getting the days back where you get to spew easily written refutations of Obama’s terrible policies, complain about how many staff members at CNN are former Democrat staffers, or point out college “safe spaces” and laugh, you actually have a chance to fix the problems presented to you and now that the opportunity is there, you want to go back to the good old days of just complaining about it because fixing a problem sure is a lot harder than just whining into your microphone.

Conservatives got their wish, we listened. We saw how corrupt the media was, we saw how insane higher education became, we saw the collusion between the Democrat party and Hollywood. We saw the indifference of the GOP that the Tea Party pointed out, a movement which every Conservative in the media was excited about, and we elected Republican representatives at every level we could resulting in the DNC losing over ten thousand seats nation-wide during the Obama Presidency, and then we watched you squander that hard work, that activism, and even worse, we saw the face of the establishment and it’s disgust for us.

We voted for Donald Trump in the primaries because he promised to fight the very things you’ve told us for years were problems. Trump didn’t shy away from hitting back at the media, and giving them a taste of their own medicine, the media the Conservative old guard told us were just part of the Democrat establishment. Trump started pushing back on ridiculous Title IX statutes that resulted in higher education attacking men for simply existing and created countless news stories of false sexual assault allegations that YOU in the Conservative media wrote and spoke about at length. The Trump administration increased the GDP, raised consumer confidence, and have increased wages primarily for blue collar workers, the very people YOU claimed were most hurt by Obama’s economic policies.

So please, establishment Conservatives, former administration officials, True Conservatives, tell me just what the hell kind of politics are we supposed to return to? It sure sounds like we revealed who was really willing to fight for principles and get into the dirty business of standing up for something, and those who really just wanted to complain into a microphone or tap away at a keyboard but never really wanted to stand up. It sounds like you asked me for years to get into the fight and now that I’m standing in the center of the ring you’re upset that punches are being thrown.

I can not tell you how disgusted I am to realize how many people in establishment Conservatism were merely there because pushing back against the Obama administration was easy. I can’t believe there are people upset that Trump calls out the media, makes people have the uncomfortable discussions that reveal how tone-deaf and detached the Democrats and media are, I can’t believe how weak some of the people who claimed they were going to be our strength when we “took back the Republic” truly are. The only thing I can say now is get out of the way, the people spoke in 2016 and they elected Donald Trump, not one of them is surprised by how he acts, not one of them cares about his mannerisms, nobody actually gives a damn that he’s unpolished, we literally voted for that, so please take your D.C. consultant funded polls about us being “exhausted” shove them firmly up your fourth point of contact, and get the hell out of my way because you’re useless to us if you’re going to try and tell us that we need to go back to taking it on the chin from the Left because that seems more polite.

The Music Industry Comes Together to Fight the Injustice of Abortion Laws – See if Your Favorite Singers Made the Cut

Westlake Legal Group prairie-dog-1470659_1280-620x413 The Music Industry Comes Together to Fight the Injustice of Abortion Laws – See if Your Favorite Singers Made the Cut Uncategorized Front Page Stories Featured Story

Previously, Hollywood’s rallied against states’ restrictive abortion laws (here).

Now the music industry is speaking out.

Via a full-page ad in Billboard, over 130 recording artists are taking a stand against pro-life legislation.

The campaign — “Band Together, Bans Off” — is a studded alliance with Planned Parenthood’s #BansOffMyBody.

A few of the notables on board: former Nickelodean star (and absolutely phenomenal singer) Ariana Grande, hitmaker Carole King, Alanis Morissette, Fiona Apple, Foo Fighters, HAIM, Heart, Frozen’s Idina Menzel, anti-Trumper John Legend, Katy Perry (here), Lady Gaga, Macklemore, “All About That Bass” singer Meghan Trainor, Miley Cyrus, Nine Inch Nails, Norah Jones, Queens of the Stone Age, Sia, and 90’s breakthrough Third Eye Blind.

The ad explains:

Freedom is at the foundation of music. Through music we have the power to create, to be as we are as individuals, to speak and live our truth. Access to sexual and reproductive health care is about that same freedom. Because no one is free unless they control their own body. Right now our bodies are under attack in this country. Sweeping bans on access to safe, legal abortions are stripping away our freedoms. Now is the time to band together and say keep your bans off our bodies.

As reported by Broadway World, Planned Parenthood Acting President and CEO Alexis McGill Johnson praised the partnership:

“Abortion access and reproductive health and rights are under attack like never before, and we need everyone to fight back. These bans do not represent the will of the American people, which is why so many powerful, diverse voices are speaking out against them. Planned Parenthood is grateful to these artists for using their incredible platforms to declare that our bodies are our own – if they are not, we can never be truly free or equal. With their help, Planned Parenthood and our supporters will keep fighting to ensure that our patients – and people across the country – can still access reproductive and sexual health care, no matter what.”

The team-up follows 180+ CEOs of companies such as Bloomberg, H&M, Postmates, and Yelp uniting for the pro-choice cause in a June New York Times ad.

What do these groups hope to accomplish? A roll-back of the country’s laws?

Whatever their specific plan, many in business and entertainment are making no bones about it — they want abortion on demand, and they want it now.

Personally, I miss the simpler days when you had no idea what the maker of your favorite tennis shoes or the singer of your favorite song thought about any given issue of politics. Now, it’s almost hard to imagine such a time. For those of you who missed it, I feel bad for you.

It was truly glorious.

Leaders Failing the Masses: Lindsey Graham Bottom-Lines the Obstacle to Immigration Reform, and it’s Downright Pathetic

Westlake Legal Group posters-2590766_1280-620x413 Leaders Failing the Masses: Lindsey Graham Bottom-Lines the Obstacle to Immigration Reform, and it’s Downright Pathetic Uncategorized Front Page Stories Featured Story

On Tuesday, Lindsey Graham laid out the greatest obstacle to any kind of meaningful fix on the issue of illegal immigration: Democrats are filled with completely overwhelming enmity toward Donald J. Trump.

Fox & Friends host Steve Doocy asked the senator:

“Why has such an important issue become so political?”

He was to the point:

“They hate Trump.”

He also offered a plan for success:

“Send people to Washington who don’t hate Trump.”

Well, they do say the simplest answer is usually the best one.

Linsdey claimed he’s been working to broker a deal to get things done. However, he explained, he can’t seem to fit in with either side of the aisle: He’s too wall-crazy for the Left and too much a hocker of “Grahamnesty” for the Right.

The congressman has, in fact, supported protection for Dreamers.

Furthermore, he’s been willing to endorse an extension for over 250,000 with Temporary Protected Status in exchange for funds to bolster the border’s barrier.

“I’ve done everything I know to do,” he insisted. “I’ve talked. I’ve turned blue in the face. I can’t get one Democrat to agree with me that you should apply for asylum in Central America or Mexico, not the United States because we don’t have the capability to deal with asylum claims. And most of them are fraudulent.”

He’s also sick of the fast release that allows the system to lose those initially held as a family unit:

“I can’t get one Democrat to agree to allow children to be held with their families humanely for 40, 50, or 100 days so we can process their claims. They literally want them to be released in the United States. They continue a practice of asylum being applied for in the United States that has a never-ending trail, and the trail to get here is terrible for women and children.”

To Lindsey, despite the complexity, it’s all one singular paradigm at work:

“They will not work with me, they will not work with President Trump.”

It’s easy to imagine he’s correct. We seemingly can’t go a day without a Democratic politician or media figure lobbing the most absolutely absurd ideas about the President.

The most absurd idea of all, though, is legislators that are too partisan — or too ridiculous — to get anything done.

On Tuesday, viewers of Oklahoma City’s KOCO-TV morning news were treated to a tearful apology and — in my view — a lesson for the nation.

The whole mess started last Thursday, when host Alex Housden and her black co-anchor, Jason Hackett, ran a story — complete with video — of a gorilla at the Oklahoma City Zoo. Toward the end of the segment, Alex remarked to Jason, “Kind of looks like you.”

He immediately replied, “He kind of does, actually. Yeah.”

When Alex Housden KOCO thinks her co anchor Jason Hackett KOCO resembles an animal…

Brace yourself for a shock: It didn’t end there.

On social media, a wrathful response emerged.

But here’s what’s surprising, and wonderful: Alex — who is actually very close friends with Jason — didn’t get fired.

She didn’t just disappear. She wasn’t simply discarded, never to be mentioned again.

Instead, the two friends addressed the incident on live television.

They did something not seemingly done much anymore: They discussed it. They came together. Jason expressed his hurt, but in a loving way. Alex apologized, with apparent genuineness.

I hope you’ll watch the video and find a tiny bit of…dare I say…hope in America — an example of what we can all do, despite the terrible and ugly division in which we currently live. We awake every day in a world where friends and even families have separated due to differences at the ballot box. But politics isn’t life; family is.

If we shatter the family in an effort to improve the country, we’ve lost our way.

All of us must be willing to come together, to speak our hearts in kindness to one another, to address our problems, in order for our relationships to work — to “form a more perfect union.” In marriages. In friendships. In families. Including the family of America.

Enjoy the video, and if you feel so inclined, share it. We could all use more of it.

NYT’s ‘Conservative Republican’ Has a Lot to Teach Us About Trump: He’s Immoral and Insane

Ever notice that some of the conservatives or Republicans propped up by mainstream media organizations don’t always come across as conservative or Republican?

Could something be awry?

Appearing on NBC’s Meet the Press Sunday, New York Times GOP man Bret Stephens made a gutsy statement on Donald J. Trump.

Actually, he made a few. As reported by Mediaite, here’s one:

“You have behavior that is unprecedented in any kind of presidential history in the United States or, frankly, elsewhere.”

Elsewhere? No one, ever, anywhere has acted like Trump? Is Bret omnipresent or omniscient?

Regardless, he sounds like a real party guy. Not that I’m in favor of party over principle.

And Bret sure as heck ain’t.

Here’s more:

“So when I hear guys like Erick [Erickson] saying, ‘Wow, you know, at the end of the day, this is a choice,’ you know, I’d actually rather have a candidate, on the Democratic side, who at least doesn’t scare me every single morning.”

Wait, who is this guy?

He’s a dude who, last September, called Ted Cruz “a serpent covered in Vaseline.”

Now where the blue blazes would a serpent be headed all covered in petroleum jelly…

Bret thinks Trump’s reign is filled with a bunch of, well, crap:

“The reality of the Trump presidency is the noise is the signal, and it’s dangerous.”

He’s definitely worried about China:

“The reality of the Trump presidency is the noise is the signal, and it’s dangerous. We are blundering our way into a contest with the Chinese that’s not about national security. It’s a contest of face between two leaders who see themselves as, essentially, you know, supreme leaders, and from which neither of them is easily going to back down. We ended up in a war, in World War II, in part because we were trying to impose an economic embargo on Japan. These things have a precedent. And they’re worrisome. We should be worried about China. But trying to wage a trade war with it, with no outcome in sight, is going to have consequences.”

But what can you expect from a Commander-in-Chief who — in Bret’s view — is either a sleazeball or a whack job?

In Bret’s own words, to host Chuck Todd:

“The President is either mentally unwell or morally unfit, maybe both.”

And that, my friends, is your representative conservative Republican. Courtesy of The New York Times.

Chanel Beauty Makes a Historic Announcement: The Face of Their New Makeup Campaign Isn’t Female

Chanel Beauty has a new face, and it’s a man’s.

An area once reserved for women is going the way of girls’ athletics as the patriarchal male domination continues.

As brought to light by Instyle:

Teddy Quinlivan is no stranger to fronting beauty campaigns, but her latest gig is not only a big career milestone, it’s history-making. Quinlivan announced that she’s the face of a new Chanel Beauty campaign, and is the first openly transgender model to be hired by the fashion house. The model shared the news on Instagram with a video and photo from the campaign, along with a heartfelt message about the importance of Chanel hiring her.

Here’s what Teddy had to say:

“I find I don’t cry anymore when things are sad, but isn’t it interesting when we shed tears in moments of triumph? This was one of those triumphant cry moments for me. My whole life has been a fight. From being bullied at school consistently, kids threatening to kill me and going into graphic detail how they were going to do it, my own father beating me and calling me a fagot, to receiving industry blowback after speaking publicly about being sexually assaulted on the job.…This was a victory that made all of that shit worth it.”

I had walked 2 shows for Chanel while I was living in stealth ( stealth meaning I hadn’t made my trans identity public yet) and when I came out I knew I’d stop working with some brands, I thought I’d never work with the iconic house of Chanel ever again. But here I am in Chanel Beauty Advertising. I am the first openly trans person to work for the house of Chanel, and I am deeply humbled and proud to represent my community. The world will kick you down, spit on you, and tell you you’re worthless. It’s your job to have the strength to stand up and push on, to keep fighting, Because if you give up then you will never experience the tears of triumph. Thank you to everyone who made this dream a reality! @nicolaskantor @shazmakeup @sebastienrichard1 @casadevallbelen

The model’s no stranger to the fashion world: He’s manned runways for not only Chanel, but Louis Vuitton and Gucci as well.

InStyle reports he “[came] out as transgender in 2017.”

His biography — as featured by BusinessOfFashion.com — states the following:

She transitioned when she was 16 and has been presenting herself as cisgender ever since. Her modelling career took off after being discovered by Louis Vuitton creative director Nicolas Ghesquière in 2015, when she made her debut as an exclusive for the Louis Vuitton’s Spring/Summer 2016 show.

Is Teddy’s suggestion, then, that no one with whom he worked knew he was a man?

Apparently, yes:

“I had walked 2 shows for Chanel while I was living in stealth (stealth meaning I hadn’t made my trans identity public yet) and when I came out I knew I’d stop working with some brands, I thought I’d never work with the iconic house of Chanel ever again. But here I am in Chanel Beauty Advertising. I am the first openly trans person to work for the house of Chanel, and I am deeply humbled and proud to represent my community.”

Chanel Beauty’s certainly making a bold choice, given that marketing is usually the illustration of a brand’s target demographic using its product.

Or is their new bullseye men who love lipstick?

Either way, though he’s Chanel’s first, Teddy Quinlivan isn’t alone in his industry.

InStyle observes:

Quinlivan is the latest transgender model succeeding in the beauty space, and helping to make it more inclusive. Andreja Pejic modeled for MAKE UP FOR EVER and Victoria’s Secret model Valentina Sampaio has also worked with L’Oreal Paris. Adding Chanel to the list of brands prioritizing diversity and representation is a triumph to celebrate, indeed.

And there you have it. The world’s changing fast.

DeBlasio Commission Recommends Eliminating Public School Programs For Gifted Students Because Of Lack Of Diversity

Westlake Legal Group AP_18159529396773-620x413 DeBlasio Commission Recommends Eliminating Public School Programs For Gifted Students Because Of Lack Of Diversity Uncategorized NYC public schools Front Page Stories Bill DeBlasio

FILE – In this Sept. 9, 2015 file photo, students arrive for the first day of school at Stuyvesant High School in New York. A push to diversify New York City’s most elite public high schools is facing a backlash from the group that makes up most of the schools’ current student bodies: Asian-Americans. (AP Photo/Mark Lennihan, File)

As I have previously noted, the most segregated public school system in the United States is in very Democratic, very blue New York City. And now a working group impaneled by Mayor Bill de Blasio has recommended that the only way to desegregate the Big Apple’s public school system is to end programs for gifted students:

Desegregation Plan: Eliminate All Gifted Programs in New York

A group appointed by Mayor Bill de Blasio proposed seismic changes to the nation’s largest school system.

By Eliza Shapiro | August 26, 2019 | Updated 7:54 p.m. ET

For years, New York City has essentially maintained two parallel public school systems.

A group of selective schools and programs geared to students labeled gifted and talented is filled mostly with white and Asian children. The rest of the system is open to all students and is predominantly black and Hispanic.

Now, a high-level panel appointed by Mayor Bill de Blasio is recommending that the city do away with most of these selective programs in an effort to desegregate the system, which has 1.1 million students and is by far the largest in the country.

Mr. de Blasio, who has staked his mayoralty on reducing inequality, has the power to adopt some or all of the proposals without input from the State Legislature or City Council. If he does, the decision would fundamentally reshape a largely segregated school system and could reverberate in school districts across the country.

Note that this is only a recommendation, and it was made to Mr de Blasio, not by Mr de Blasio. That’s an important distinction, because failing to take it is to open the door to demagoguery.

He risks alienating tens of thousands of mostly white and Asian families whose children are enrolled in the gifted programs and selective schools. If a substantial number of those families leave the system, it would be even more difficult to achieve integration.

The proposals, contained in a report to be released on Tuesday, may also face opposition from some middle-class black and Hispanic families that have called for more gifted programs in mostly minority neighborhoods as a way to offer students of color more access to high-quality schools.

It’s a long article, one which slams former Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s educational programs, which helped to screen for more highly able students to be able to attend public schools which matched their abilities. It proposes different things, which you can see by following the link to the original. Much further down are three important paragraphs:

As the city has tried for decades to improve its underperforming schools, it has long relied on accelerated academic offerings and screened schools, including the specialized high schools, to entice white families to stay in public schools.

But at the same time, white, Asian and middle-class families have sometimes exacerbated segregation by avoiding neighborhood schools, and instead choosing gifted programs or other selective schools. In gentrifying neighborhoods, some white parents have rallied for more gifted classes, which has in some cases led to segregated classrooms within diverse schools.

The application system for gifted classes, which can begin when a child is 4, tends to favor savvy parents who have the flexibility to visit schools and, in some cases, the money to spend on test preparation.

The article blames the high rate of segregation on white and Asian families doing what parents naturally do, try to get the best for their children.

One of the concerns of the panel, mentioned more than once in the article, is that if the schools for the top performers are eliminated white and Asian parents will instead opt for private schools, or public schools in the suburbs, which would increase New York’s public school percentages of black and Hispanic students from the 70% of the 1.1 million public school students. Roughly 75% of the system’s

But underlying the entire article is the obvious but unspoken assumption by the recommending panel: white and Asian students are simply more intelligent and more capable than black and Hispanic students. Oh, the panel members, prestigious people all, would absolutely deny that, but in reading the Times’ story, the impression is unmistakable. Rather than seeking ways to help black and Hispanic students be more successful on the testing which determines which students can go to the selective schools, it promoted the Upper West Side’s District 3, which reserved some seats in the top middle schools for underperforming students, but noted that doing that it “took years of often bitter debate for those politically progressive and racially diverse neighborhoods to finally adopt those plans”.

I suppose that ‘progressive’ neighborhoods prefer ‘progressive’ programs when they are in other people’s neighborhoods.

In truth, it is the left who are the racists that they claim conservatives are. For all of their blathering about multiculturalism and diversity and equality, they only believe in those things for people who live elsewhere, for those of us living in ‘flyover country.’
