CNN Host Grills Pete Buttigieg Over His Abject Failure Among the Black Community

On Friday, a CNN talker noted the failings of a 2020 Democratic hopeful.

Strange day.

“Noted the failings,” that is, where it concerns his popularity among black voters.

Currently, Pete Buttigieg stinks.

The Axe Files’s David Axelrod made the observations during a discussion with news anchor John Berman.

John remarked that the small-town Indiana mayor “absolutely” has no chance to win the presidency without the support of black Americans.”

And he most certainly does not have it.

From Axelrod:

“Absolutely cannot. Absolutely cannot. African-Americans are about a quarter of the Democratic primary electorate. Once you clear those early states of Iowa and New Hampshire, they come into play. And in South Carolina, 60 percent of the voters will be African-American. So, as a practical matter, he has to solve this problem or he’s going to go back to South Bend. And that’s a problem.”

Right. It’s a problem, in part, because he isn’t taking care of business at home: Pete’s vacated his mayoral office to run for president, and some people haven’t appreciated it.

While he was out trying to change jobs in June, a white police officer shot a black man and chaos ensued.

Pete rushed back for damage control, but his town hall turned into YellFest 2019.

Even the gals at The View were unimpressed.

At the time, Joy Behar offered something which, to me, seemed perfectly sensible:

“[I] have this feeling that these guys who are running who are mayors and governors should keep doing their jobs — until they can fix — it’s almost like…when you’re the mayor or a governor, it’s almost like being the father or the mother of the family. And to leave South Bend now and run for president seems like an unfinished job.”

Former Obama Senior Advisor David appears to agree:

“South Bend itself is a bit of a problem for him because even though he has this very far-reaching Douglass Plan to try and fight systemic racism in this country, there are troubling issues back home about police staffing, which African-Americans dropped by half under his watch, and on city contracting, where African-American — where minority businesses have done rather poorly in sharing in the business of the city, even though 40 percent of the city is black and Hispanic. These are questions that I asked him.”

How’s he gonna lead the country if he can’t satisfactorily run South Bend?

Pete’s smaller problems are his bigger problems:

“And, you know, he had a series of issues. He fired a popular black police chief. It was because of an investigation. But, nonetheless, it was a controversial decision. He tore down 1,000 abandoned homes, many of them in poor minority communities, and that was meant to remove blight. But there was quite a bit of resistance because now there are these vacant lots in the community. So, you know, there are a lot of issues that he has to confront there.”

It’s not so often you see CNN downgrade a Democrat.

I wrote a while back that the lead-up to 2020 is gonna be interesting on the other side of the aisle. And so far, it hasn’t disappointed. CNN’s saying a Democratic can’t take care of business with the black citizenry, and AOC and Pelosi are in the ring among other infighting (here and here).

Keep out your popcorn; I think it’s gonna get weirder.

Tennessee Governor Honors KKK Grand Wizard & Slave Trader Nathan Bedford Forrest. Because He Has To?

Westlake Legal Group civil-war-62990_1280-620x388 Tennessee Governor Honors KKK Grand Wizard & Slave Trader Nathan Bedford Forrest. Because He Has To? Uncategorized Front Page Stories Featured Story

In Tennessee, the Confederacy’s getting a weekend promotion.

Also being boosted: the KKK.

Governor Bill Lee signed a declaration officially making Saturday Nathan Bedford Forrest Day.

Who’s Nathan? Well, he was a Confederate general.

He was also a Grand Wizard — and I don’t mean of Oz.

As observed by Vice News:

He was the first Grand Wizard, and is believed to be responsible for Confederates massacring black Union troops. at Ft. Pillow during the Civil War, though his involvement has been disputed. He did eventually appear to renounce the Klan, and even called for its dissolution.

Well, that’s a positive change.

But what hasn’t been changed is the state law which requires the governor to annually proclaim as a holiday June 13th — slave trader Nathan’s birthday.

The gov has to do it? Yep.

From Vice:

Indeed, the 1921 law requires proclamations for six such special observances a year, including two others related to the Confederacy. Tennessee also declares Jan. 19 Robert E. Lee Day, a tribute to the commander of the Confederate army. June 3, the president of the Confederacy, Jefferson Davis’s birthday, is declared Confederate Decorations Day. Until 1969, each of those days was a legal state holiday.

Gov. Bill told The Tennessean Thursday:

“I signed the bill because the law requires that I do that and I haven’t looked at changing that law.”

Black Democratic state Rep. Harold Love is sittin’ on go for the alteration, as he made clear to Memphis’s ABC 24:

“I think for many of us that know this has happened have oftentimes wondered when would a governor ask us to assist in helping change the law.”

Sen. Ted Cruz wouldn’t mind an undo, either. He called for action on Twitter:

“This is WRONG. Nathan Bedford Forrest was a Confederate general & a delegate to the 1868 Democratic Convention. He was also a slave trader & the 1st Grand Wizard of the KKK. Tennessee should not have an official day (tomorrow) honoring him. Change the law.”

It won’t come soon enough to make a 2019 difference. So for now, it’s NBF Day.

As for the future, if the government’s gonna slash the law, it might wanna hire some movers, too. In fact, it could start there: a bust of Nathan sits at the state Capitol.

Until something is done, visitors to Nashville’s hallowed building on top of a hill are off to see the Wizard.

Billy Joel Features Bill & Hillary at His Madison Square Garden Show. The Crowd Boos

Billy Joel is faaantastic. The guy knows how to write a compelling song, and the diversity of his catalogue is incredible — from “Piano Man” to “We Didn’t Start the Fire” to “Lullabye (Goodnight My Angel)” to “Big Man on Mulberry Street” to “The Longest Time,” his mastery of genre knows no superior.

Bill and Hillary Clinton know how to run the gamut, too. The power couple have made headlines over the years for so many different things: scandals, two presidential terms, affairs, Bengazi, the governorship, impeachment, a controversial multi-billion-dollar foundation, and an absolutely jaw-dropping amount of expressed bitterness over the 2016 election (here, here, here, here, here, and here).

Some of those haven’t elicited the same kind of love stirred by, say, “Tell Her About It.”

Therefore, when the duo attended the Piano Man’s Madison Square Garden show Thursday — as reported by Fox News — some folks erected a wall of boos.

And that would be in New York — the very state for which Hillary served as senator.

As noted by The Daily Wire, the Clintons have seen a fair amount of public dissent as of late: They slashed their book tour prices to as low as $10 in May, and the Broadway extravaganza about the couple — starring John Lithgow and Laurie Metcalf, no less — was forced to close early due to poor sales.

Bill’s connection to alleged sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein probably isn’t boosting their Q. But a recent statement insisted the former president’s An Innocent Man.

Whatever the reason, the Washington icons didn’t gel with this week’s New York State of Mind:

After the Long Island-born legend dedicated a song to the former first couple and flashed them up on the screen at Madison Square Garden, initial cheers turned to boos from the audience.

And So It Goes

Light in a Dark Place: Chick-fil-A Manager Delivers Kindness to a 96-Year-Old Man in a Story That’ll Brighten Your Day

Want another story to increase your love for America’s favorite chicken joint?

In Maryland Thursday, a 96-year-old World War II veteran entered a Chick-fil-A “almost in tears.”

Rudy Somoza, a manager at the restaurant, recounted the situation to CNN:

“He was shaking, almost in tears saying he barely made it to the store on three tires because one was bad. As soon as he finished his sentence, Daryl informed me he needed to help this gentleman right now.”

“Daryl” would be head manager Daryl Howard, who’s worked at the closed-on-Sunday franchise for nearly a decade. He left the counter to make a difference in the life of someone who served his country back when war meant looking into the eyes of your enemy. A time when Americans voluntarily chose to fight out of a deeply-rooted patriotism.

Rudy continued:

“[D]aryl jumped into action without hesitation.”

15 minutes later, the deed was done. And it’s the kind a helping hand — it seems to me — of which we could use much more in this current climate of political vitriol and social media narcissism.

While talking heads are touting “diversity” and progressivism, our real strengths as a nation are much simpler and not so nearly faddish: What makes for a greater world are liberty and kindness.

Two fast-food managers apparently agree, at least in part.

“His action of kindness was beautiful,” Rudy noted. “Daryl has always been so helpful to anyone in need and deserves this recognition.”

In Contrast to Forces in the U.S., Israel’s Education Minister Speaks Out in Favor of Gay Conversion Therapy. Netanyahu Isn’t Pleased

Two Serbian human rights activists hold banners reading, left: “No to homophobia, lesbophobia, transphobia” and right “Thank you brave journalists”, during a protest against reported persecution of gay men in Chechnya outside the Russian embassy in Belgrade, Serbia, Wednesday, April 26, 2017. The Novaya Gazeta newspaper has recently reported alleged police persecution of presumed gay groups. (AP Photo/Darko Vojinovic)

Earlier this week, I covered Amazon’s ban of several books touting gay conversion therapy (here).

Last week, I wrote an article about New York’s ordinance making such therapy illegal — so if you’re a grown man or woman wanting therapeutic help to not be gay, the government says it’s smarter than you and pulling rank (here).

But in Israel, the country’s education minister is speaking up for such help.

Orthodox Rabbi Rafael Peretz told the nation’s Channel 12 last month that he believes conversion therapy can be effective.

In addition to his position as education chief, Rafael’s head of the United Right party.

And here’s what he had to say:

“I have a very deep familiarity with the issue of education, and I have also done this.”

He recalled providing such a service to a guy struggling with homosexuality:

“First of all, I embraced him. I said very warm things to him. I told him, ‘Let’s think. Let’s study. And let’s contemplate.’ The objective is first of all for him to know himself well … and then he will decide.”

Israel’s LGBT Task Force — an advocacy group — wasn’t happy. They labeled his viewpoint “benighted.”

Also not impressed: Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who released a statement.

“The education minister’s remarks regarding the pride community are unacceptable to me and do not reflect the position of the government that I head.”

But Rafael believes he has a responsibility as a religious leader, amid his desire to show respect for all people regardless of their sexual preference:

“I honour everyone as people. I admit that I, personally – I am a rabbi of Israel. Our Torah tells us other things. But that does not mean that I look about now and give them grades.”

Whether the treatment is effective, in the U.S., it seems to me, New York’s legislation is an assault on liberty. When it comes to our personal choices, it’s largely outside the governmental purview to decide what’s best for us. Both parties appear to have a penchant for opposing me in that regard, but it’s what I believe. What has made America great isn’t “diversity” or any of the latest trendy terms. What makes the United States something worth fighting for is liberty. I’d be happy with the elected few overseeing the maintenance of our roads. But as for the direction of our individual adult lives, don’t legislators have some TV shows to catch up on or something?

As for gay therapy itself, what do you believe about such therapy? Please let us all know in the Comments section.

Dem Rep. Greg Meeks Threatens to Primary AOC As the Civil War Goes Nuclear

Greg Meeks Threatens to Primary AOC As the Civil War Goes Nuclear Uncategorized Straight into my veins schadenfreude Primaried New York Nancy Pelosi Justice Demoracts infighting Hilarious Greg Meeks Front Page Stories Featured Story civil war AOC Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez 2020 election

It’s actually getting hard to keep up at this point with all the volleys being lobbed in the Democrats’ ongoing civil war.

Just yesterday, we had a Democrat Rep. Clay light Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her Chief of Staff up for their very public attacks against other caucus members. Those included AOC insinuating racism against House Speaker Nancy Pelosi as well as a tweet accusing moderate Democrats of being like segregationists.

“It shows you how weak their argument is when they have to resort and direct racist accusations toward Speaker Pelosi … it’s very disappointing to me,” Clay said.

The Missouri Democrat also described Ocasio-Cortez’s chief of staff Saikat Chakrabarti and the progressive group Justice Democrats as “juvenile” and “ignorant.”…

…“It shows you how ignorant and little history [Chakrabarti] knows, how ignorant he is to American history. How dare he,” Clay said.

A few days before that, AOC was sniping at Pelosi for making her do actual work as a Congressional member. Pelosi had previously downplayed AOC and her “squad” as having no following and just being four votes. Without continuing, rest assured there are many more examples just from the past few weeks. The cold war has certainly gone hot at this point.

Another Democrat Representative has jumped into the fray now. Rep. Greg Meeks (D-CA) took a not veiled at all shot at AOC and her “Justice Democrats” sycophants, who have been trying to primary Congressional Black Caucus members, among others.

Here’s The New York Daily News with the comments.

In an interview with the Daily News, Meeks fumed over Ocasio-Cortez’s recent racial beef with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and pushed back against her left-wing allies at Justice Democrats for openly backing insurgent candidates trying to unseat members of the Congressional Black Caucus.

He also said the CBC can play the same game.

“Primaries go two ways,” Meeks said when asked whether his wing of the party would consider challenging progressive members next year, including Ocasio-Cortez. “If someone picks a fight with somebody else, you fight back. That’s what my parents told me.”

Meeks would go on to wink and nod that there aren’t any “current” plans to primary the socialist queen, but come on, it’s abundantly clear what he’s threatening above.

At this point, I’d be shocked if no one challenges AOC and no doubt Pelosi is working out the logistics of that behind the scenes. A well funded, liberal candidate could likely give the incumbent a real run for her money, as she’s not even wildly popular in her own district. AOC has has made a lot of enemies, especially after costing her constituents millions of dollars in investments and wages by nonsensically running Amazon off.

Also contained in the Daily News article is this gem from an anonymous Congressional Democrat, supposedly in leadership.

A Democratic leadership source, who only spoke on condition of anonymity, was harsher.

“Justice Democrats in general are trust fund kids who are funding this with their parents’ money,” the source said, blasting the progressive group as “elitist” for criticizing black lawmakers from poor districts who take corporate donations. “It’s offensive for CBC members when these elites are looking down on them when they don’t have the financial ability to say, ‘I don’t want that money.’”

As RedState’s streiff reported on today, that saw AOC squad member Rep. Ayanna Pressley respond by basically calling the CBC uncle toms.

Here’s what the Democrats can do with all this chaos.

Westlake Legal Group just-hook-it-to-my-veins-33796901 Dem Rep. We’ll see how Justice Democrats responds. There have been rumors they may try to primary Meeks and these latest comments only add more gasoline to the fire. On the other side of the equation, there’s also some rumblings that AOC’s district may be redistricted out of existence. If that happens, I might die from the sheer overload of schadenfreude.

Pastor of Liberal Church Gets Fired After She Takes Christian Conference Attendees to Buy Toys – at a Sex Shop

Here’s a Saturday story for ya.

In 2014, a famous liberal Manhattan church found its first female pastor in mid-40’s Amy Butler. Pretty spiffy.

But the spiff didn’t last — Pastor Amy had to recently be let go, following a formal harassment claim against her.

She had a good shot: The non-legalistic church is known for its laid-back attitude toward homosexuality and left-wing political stances on illegal immigration and climate change.

Outside of sporting a MAGA hat, what’s a girl gonna do to get canned?

The divorced mother of three figured it out. She took two fellow ministers and a flock member on a field trip — to a sex shop. While there, she bought one of the Good News-bringers a vibrator. And they didn’t want it.

But oh, what a trip it was: The gang shot over to the Smitten Kitten while in Minneapolis for a religious conference. She reportedly pulled out the church credit card and joked, “Is this a church business expense?”

Nicely done.

Amy bought a blue, $200 bunny-shaped vibrator for her single-mom-of-two collared compadre who was celebrating her 40th birthday — “as well as more pleasure gadgets for the congregant and herself,” as per the New York Post. Ames offered to purchase a sex toy for the other minister as well — a gay man in a committed relationship.

He declined.

Fox News reports:

The sex toy incident was apparently the final straw amid mounting concerns from the Riverside Church Council about Butler’s judgment, as she was seeking a $100,000 raise. She has a $250,000 annual salary and $8,000 monthly housing allowance — on top of other cushy benefits.

Wow — no wonder she went for the 2-Benjamin bunny.

But wait — there’s more. As relayed by Slate, the firing may’ve been for something different entirely:

Supporters told the [New York Times] that the dismissal came after Butler accused a member of the church’s governing council of leaving her inappropriate gifts (including a T-shirt reading “Sweet Bitch”) and making suggestive comments to her and other female ministers. “There is absolutely no doubt that sexism played a role,” one supporter told the Times.

That church has some interesting things going on.

Either way, sometime around July 7th, Interim Senior Minister Michael Livingston announced via the house of worship’s website Ms. Butler’s departure:

“Rev. Dr. Amy Butler and the Riverside Church Council are announcing that after five years of leadership, Pastor Amy will not be renewing her contract as senior minister. The Council thanks Pastor Amy for her leadership and asks all congregants to pray for her continued ministry as a leader in the progressive Christian world.”

Progressive = Buying a blue bunny vibrator for your single-mom pastor friend and offering an anal device for your fellow gay minister while trying to shrug off your “Sweet Bitch” shirt from the church councilman.

Progress sure has changed since I was a kid.

So has — my gosh — so has church trips.

Early Look at the 2020 Senate Races, Part 2: The Midwest

Westlake Legal Group 140529_joni_ernst_ap_605-300x162 Early Look at the 2020 Senate Races, Part 2: The Midwest Uncategorized Front Page Stories

Today, this writer looks at 2020 Senate races in the Midwest from the Rust Belt through the Farm Belt.  As previously explained, if the incumbent is running, their approval and disapproval ratings according to Morning Consult are included in parentheses.  As a reminder, incumbents start to get in dicey territory when their approval rating dips below 45%.

ILLINOIS

Richard, or the more aptly-named “Dick,” Durbin (37/35) is the Democratic incumbent.  He is also the Senate’s Minority Whip meaning he is in a position of power within the Democratic hierarchy in the Senate.  That means with an elevated profile, he also takes on his share of criticism for gridlock in the Senate.  Make no mistake- Durbin is about as liberal as they come.  Since entering the Senate, his closest race was in 2014 when he won by 9 points.  That year, Republican opponent Jim Oberweis won the overwhelming majority of Illinois counties, yet it was Chicago and its suburbs that decided the election… again.  First, he will have to defeat primary challenger Anne Stava-Murray, a state representative who spent less than $30,000 to unseat an entrenched Republican.  Although the odds are long she can defeat the well-funded Durbin, inflicting damage can be done.

For the GOP, thus far, a viable candidate has not stepped forward.  One of the four declared candidates was actually convicted of health care fraud in 2018.  There are possibilities as two sitting Congressmen- Darrin LaHood and Rodney Davis have been mentioned.  Another is Erika Harold, a former Miss America and nominee for state attorney general in 2018.  Once you get away from the population centers in Illinois, especially Cook County, Durbin’s popularity and influence wanes.  Any Republican must make a dent there if they hope to unseat this incumbent.  Prediction: Democrat hold.

IOWA

Republican Joni Ernst (40/37) is up for reelection in 2020.  Although drawing no primary opposition, three Democrats are vying to take her on.  Two of them were candidates for the US House from the Third District.  The problem for Ernst, potentially, is that there is a long list of potential Democrats who still have time to enter the race including two state senators, a former governor, and the current state auditor, Rob Sand.

Because she has that relatively low approval rating with an almost identical disapproval rating, it is that other 23% of fence sitters who will decide the election.  And Ernst has to play it safe here.  She cannot be too pro-Trump, nor can she be too anti-Trump.  The President still enjoys a 44% approval rating in the state despite the stories that his trade war with China has hurt agricultural exports and Iowa farmers.  This race is no slam dunk for the GOP and one can be certain the Democrats will come hard and fast for this seat in a Presidential election year.  Prediction: Trump will push Ernst over the line in a close race- GOP hold.

KANSAS

Republican Pat Roberts is calling it quits and retiring creating an open race.  Before we call this one in the bag for the GOP, consider that Shanice Davis won a seat in the House from Kansas in 2018.  Although one should not think the tide is turning blue in Kansas (Trump has 49% approval), a Democrat with the right message can surprise, especially in an open race.  Thus far, the only Democrat in the race is former US attorney, Barry Grissom.  However, still undecided but mentioned as possible entries are Kathleen Sebelius and the aforementioned Davis.

On the GOP side so far is state treasurer Jake LaTurner, 2018 gubernatorial candidate Kris Kobach (who lost), and former Chiefs defensive end David Lindstrom.  Kobach is the big name in the mix and is a conservative lightning rod for his hardline stances on immigration.  There is a slew of potential candidates on the Republican side still deciding.  In 2018, Kobach lost the election when more mainstream Republicans in the state endorsed the Democratic opponent and eventual winner, Laura Kelly, stating Kobach was too out of the mainstream.  In Kobach’s favor is his association with the Trump administration in a state where Trump holds high approval ratings.  At the very least, Kansas is in for a hard-fought, possibly entertaining Republican slugfest.  Prediction: GOP hold.

MICHIGAN

Gary Peters (33/23) is the Democratic incumbent and very liberal.  He won by 13 points in 2014 over Terri Lynn Land.  Only former gubernatorial losing candidate Abdul El-Sayed has been mentioned as a potential primary opponent.  On the other side, it is likely that John James, a Republican African-American businessman, will get the nod for the GOP.  In 2018, he ran against a better-liked Debbie Stabenow for the Senate and lost.  But what should excite the GOP is that he lost by only 6 points in a midterm year that saw GOP losses elsewhere.

Peters is less liked and less known than Stabenow.  As the numbers above show, 44% have no opinion.  That is not necessarily good news for an incumbent, nor is a 33% approval rating.  This is a unique opportunity for the GOP to pick up a seat in the Senate.  Previous commentary here at Redstate during the 2018 election was highly positive of James.  Trump endorsed James six days before the Michigan primary and twice considered him to replace Nikki Haley at the UN.  Some have argued that if the GOP had spent more effort in the general election campaign in 2018, he may have pulled off a victory.  The help came too little, too late.  Let’s not make the same mistake.  NOTE:  Trump still enjoys a 43% approval rating in Michigan.  Prediction:  TOSS UP

MINNESOTA

Tina Smith (42/24) entered the Senate after being appointed to replace Al Franken who had resigned.  In a 2018 special election, she defeated Republican Karin Housley by 11 points.  Housley has ruled out another run in 2020.  No Republicans have entered the race yet, but there are potential candidates including Mike Lindell of My Pillow fame.  In 2016, Trump lost Minnesota by about 2 points.  Today, he enjoys a 42% approval rating in a state that is considered blue.  They have given us Amy Klobuchar, Tina Smith (a rabid pro-choicer), Mark Dayton, Al Franken and Ilhan Omar.  But, if you get away from Hennepin county (Minneapolis-St.Paul), the state has a strong conservative streak.  Hopefully, the GOP can field a strong, viable candidate in 2020 to at least make this race interesting.  Prediction:  Democrat hold.

NEBRASKA

This is Ben Sasse’s (49/27) race for the taking.  The problem is, he has not officially announced he is running for reelection, although this writer puts the odds at greater than 65%.  The problem for many here is that Sasse is great at signaling virtue on social media and short on legislative achievements.  Three unknown Democrats have declared their candidacy.  Trump enjoys a 50% approval rating in this state.  If an open race, it may prompt Congressman Jeff Fortenberry to enter on the GOP side.  Prediction:  GOP hold.

OKLAHOMA

In Oklahoma, Republican incumbent Jim Inhofe (39/38) has not decided on another run for the Senate.  As a result, there are no declared candidates on either side.  One name mentioned should Inhofe retire is former EPA director Scott Pruitt who remains fairly popular in the state.  On the Democratic side is the possibility of Kendra Horn who won a House race in 2018 and three state legislators.  This is strong Trump territory (54% approval) so any Democratic candidate has to tread carefully here, especially on the issues of energy and impeachment.  Perhaps, Inhofe sees those approval ratings and is thinking hard and long.  Regardless, one should not expect a Democratic upset here unless the eventual Republican candidate is a dumpster fire.  Prediction:  GOP hold

SOUTH DAKOTA

Although there are no declared Democrats, Republican Mike Rounds (56/28) has drawn a primary opponent in 42-year-old, female state representative Scyller Borglum (no relation to the Mt. Rushmore guy) who came out swinging at Rounds.  Self-described as a “commonsense conservative,” she derided Rounds for being part of Washington gridlock and aligning herself with Trump on many issues, although statistics shows Rounds supports Trump 90% of the time.  She claimed that because many have abandoned commonsense conservatism, people are leaving the GOP and that may be the reason for Republican Kristi Noem’s narrow gubernatorial victory in 2018.  Her campaign thus far describes her as an outsider although a spokesman for Rounds calls her candidacy “bizarre” since, on policy, she is running slightly to the left of Rounds.  Within hours of the announcement, the NRSC immediately threw their support behind Rounds.

Considering a run on the Democratic side are two female state legislators, a former US attorney, and Billie Sutton, who narrowly lost the gubernatorial race to Noem in 2018.  Prediction:  GOP hold, but a race to watch.

This may come as a surprise to some of you. It certainly did to me.

In an interview for the August issue of Forbes, rapper Kanye West opened up about how his mental health was saved by his faith in — and “radical obedience” to — Jesus Christ:

Rewind to three years ago, when West claimed to be $53 million in debt, just before canceling the back of a lucrative arena tour and checking into a Los Angeles hospital for over a week with symptoms of sleep deprivation and temporary psychosis. West credits his turnaround to religious beliefs (“being in service to Christ, the radical obedience”) —and, on occasion, to being bipolar. Call him creative, call him chaotic—just don’t call him crazy. Like some entrepreneurs with conditions like ADHD and Asperger’s, he sees his diagnosis not as a hindrance but as a “superpower” that unlocks his imagination.

Kanye is…well…an usual kind of fella. A while back, he tweeted to Mark Zuckerberg while $53 million in debt. The occasion: a request for $1 billion to fund his artistic endeavors.

Hey! I’d like one of those, too. I’ve been wantin’ to make something with poster board, Elmer’s, pipe cleaner, and glitter. $1 bil should do nicely.

As reported by The Daily Wire, Kanye’s touting a public Christian faith for a while. In fact, he’s created Sunday Service events consisting of gospel music for the sake of a “healing experience.”

Anticipating the rapper’s Service at Coachella in April, Wife Kim spoke to Elle:

“[T]his will be my first time ever going to Coachella, and I’m so excited to be a part of it for the first time. And [the church], it’s honestly more like a healing experience for my husband. It’s just music; there’s no sermon. It’s definitely something he believes in—Jesus—and there’s a Christian vibe. But there’s no preaching. It’s just a very spiritual Christian experience.”

From TDW:

Following the success of the song “Jesus Walks,” Kanye has maintained he believes in God and Jesus Christ. In 2014, while performing at a show in Australia, he proclaimed himself to be a “married, Christian man.”

“I’m not judging but I’m just going to tell you who I am. I’m a married, Christian man,” he told the crowd.

My gosh — he’s the far Left’s worse nightmare: a famous black artist who loves President Trump and — say it ain’t so — this:

EGAD!
