Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva warned the county’s largely Democratic leadership Thursday that the $145 million cutfrom his department’s budget earlier this week is going to “hurt the public” as divisions scramble to reassign cases.

“The need to provide public-safety continues to rise,” Villanueva said on “Hannity.” “Crime hasn’t gone away because people don’t like law enforcement.”

LA CUTS $150M FROM POLICE DEPARTMENT AMID CALLS TO DEFUND POLICE

Since the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis police custody on Memorial Day, criticism against police has spiked around the country, along with calls to reform or defund departments.

“For some reason, it’s unpopular to speak out on behalf of victims but I will,” Villanueva went on. “I’m going to support the hardworking men and women who are part of the city and we are not some outside occupying force.

“We didn’t wake up one day and all of a sudden we are racist and we’re not part of the community. We are part of the community, working with the community, for the community, and we need to be present.”

Villanueva said that he was advised to cut back on bureaus that deal with special victims, narcotics, major crimes, organized crime, and human trafficking.

“At the minimum, we are going to have to curtail them, which means cases are not going to be investigated … they are going to have a bigger workload,” Villanueva said.

“Our cybercrime unit, they investigate abuse and it’s a huge growing crime sector. They don’t want to provide the funds to address it. There’s no easy cut,” he warned. “It’s going to hurt the public in some way no matter how way they slice and dices.”

AT&T Executive Chairman Randall Stephenson called out Senate Democrats Thursday for prematurely blocking the GOP police reform bill, warning that until bipartisan legislation is passed, U.S. corporations will remain vulnerable.

“The American people believe this type of reform is now necessary and this is the first time we’ve seen this,” Stephenson told “Special Report” host Bret Baier.

“I do think the business community has a vested interest in this and I do think our voice is relevant,” he went on. “We have a situation where black Americans are receiving a different level of justice and sometimes denied justice. That’s a recipe for unrest, a recipe for lack of stability, a recipe for poor economic growth.”

HOUSE TO VOTE ON DEMOCRATS BILL AFTER SENATE REJECTS GOP POLICE REFORM PLAN

Stephenson called the decision on behalf of Senate Democrats to block a GOP-backed bill a “travesty” that further delayed the legislative process.

“We have a House bill. the House bill is a reasonable bill,” he said. “Now go to the Senate, [Sen.] Tim Scott put in place what I think is a very reasonable bill, a good starting place. There are some areas the Democrats don’t like and as a result, they’ve said that we’re not going to allow them to bring it to the floor for debate. I think it’s a travesty because time is right to get this legislation done and to address some of these systemic issues.”

SENATE REPUBLICANS’ POLICE REFORM BILL FAILS ON TEST VOTE AMID DEM OPPOSITION

U.S. corporations are grappling with the impact of the civil unrest sparked by the May 25 death of George Floyd as customers and employees call on company leadership to address police brutality and racial injustice, explained Stephenson, who recently retired as CEO of the U.S. telecommunications and media giant.

“I’ve been CEO 13 years, I have never seen anything like what we’re experiencing right now,” he told Baier.

“There is an outcry from our employees, by our black employees, and by a broad sector of entire employee base saying, ‘Where are we on this? Where are those values on the wall that we value equality? …Do we have a role? Do we have a voice in this?’ “

Stephenson said his colleagues on the Business Roundtable, the group representing executives of the country’s largest companies, “are all experiencing the exact same thing.”

His comments come a day after the Business Roundtable announced a list of recommendations to move Congress toward bipartisan police reform legislation.

The future of the United States under President Trump’s leadership will be “dramatically different” than that of Joe Biden’s, Newt Gingrich said, comparing the significance of the 2020 election to Lincoln’s 1860 victory which preceded the Civil War.

“I suggest that this is the most important election since 1860,” the former House Speaker said in his new Fox Nation series “Crisis 2020: Newt Gingrich on America’s Future.”

“The scale of choice that the country faced in 1860 between Lincoln, who was determined to stop the spread of slavery but also determined to keep the union together, and three other candidates on the Democratic Party who were pro-slavery and who wanted to somehow appease the South…was enormous,” Gingrich explained.

GINGRICH: WHAT I WOULD LIKE TO ASK JOE BIDEN

“But it was a clear, decisive choice. And as the country was growing tired of putting up with slavery, the country would not tolerate secession. And as a result, in the end, Americans survived.”

As the United States continues to grapple with the threat of COVID-19, coupled with national unrest paralyzing cities across the country, Gingrich said we find ourselves facing a similar challenge.

“[If] we end up with a President Biden, Speaker Pelosi and Majority Leader Schumer, in the first year or so, the amount of stuff they’re going to do will amaze you,” he warned.

“By contrast, I think President Trump believes that his policies were working, that lower taxes, less regulation, greater opportunity for people to go out and start small businesses, encouraging people to go to work…to have more what they earn in their pocket, giving them freedom from bureaucrats and regulations….” Gingrich said. “These are two dramatically different futures.”

Gingrich explores the topic at length in his new book “Trump and the American Future: Solving the Great Problems of Our Time.”   An exclusive, signed Fox Nation-edition will be available for purchase here for Fox Nation subscribers only.

Horace Lorenzo Anderson Sr., the father of a 19-year-old black man who was shot and killed last month inside Seattle’s Capitol Hill Occupied Protest (CHOP) publically pleaded for answers on “Hannity” Wednesday night, saying police and Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan had failed to reach out to him since his son’s death.

SEATTLE POLICE RESPONSE TO FATAL CHOP SHOOTING SEEN ON BODYCAM FOOTAGE

“They need to come talk to me and somebody needs to come tell me something, because I still don’t know nothin’,” an emotional Anderson told host Sean Hannity. “Somebody needs to come to my house and knock on my door and tell me something. I don’t know nothin’. All I know is my son got killed up there.

“They say, ‘He’s just a 19-year-old.'” No, that’s Horace Lorenzo Anderson [Jr.]. That’s my son, and I loved him.”

“Somebody needs to come to my house and knock on my door and tell me something.”

— Horace Lorenzo Anderson, “Hannity”

The younger Anderson was murdered early on the morning of June 20 when shots rang out near Cal Anderson Park on 10th Avenue and East Pine Street inside the CHOP.  A 33-year-old man was wounded in the shooting.

Anderson Sr. broke down in tears as he recalled the night he learned of his son’s death.

“The only way I found out was just two of his friends, just two friends that just happened to be up there and they came and told me,” he said.  “They weren’t even from Seattle. Now, mind you, I haven’t heard —  the police department, they never came …

“Someone should’ve came and knocked on my door and … should’ve been, like, coming to talk to me and let me know about my son. To this day, I really don’t know nothing. I’m still here sitting. I don’t know nothing.”

Anderson, who plans to bury his son on Thursday, told Hannity that he is “numb” and hasn’t been able to sleep as questions about his son’s final moments remain unanswered.

“I still don’t know what’s going on,” he said. “I’m hearing from YouTube. I don’t know nothing. All I know is my son is dead. I’m still trying to figure out answers so I can sleep. I don’t sleep. My kids don’t sleep. I can’t even stay at home. My kids, they feel like they are unsafe at home. I’ve been buying motel rooms and I don’t have that type of money. I wasn’t prepared for this.”

Anderson said that without his efforts to honor his son’s memory, “he would be nobody. It doesn’t matter. Just another guy, another child swept up under a rug and that’s it and forgotten about.”

At one point in the interview, Hannity became emotional as Anderson described the daily trauma of waking up to the realization that his son is no longer alive.

“I wake up in the morning … I look for my son in the morning. He’s not there no more. You know I’m saying? It’s like I go in there, I’m kissing a picture. He’s not there.”

“You’re taking away generations,” he went on. ” You’re taking away our youth. You are taking away, my son never had a chance to have another child. My grandbaby would never be … that’s a generation taken from me.”

Despite his grief, Anderson said he trusts that God will take care of his family and guide them through these trying times.

“Everything is in God’s hands now,” he said. “God’s going to take care of it, I feel like … God is going to take care of me and he is going to take care of my son.”

To the family of the perpetrator, Anderson said “I look in the camera and I wouldn’t wish this on you, nobody else’s kids.”

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio is single-handedly destroying law and order in America’s biggest city, Fox News host Judge Jeanine Pirro asserted on “Tucker Carlson Tonight” Wednesday.

“I know from my days as a DA, if you don’t have a safe community, say goodbye to business, the economy’s going to go down the tubes, no one’s going to want to move in,” Pirro told host Tucker Carlson.

“This is the end of New York City and I absolutely believe this is intentional.”

NY CITY COUNCIL APPROVES SLASHING NYPD BUDGET BY $1 BILLION

On Tuesday night, the New York City Council approved a budget that shifted $1 billion from the New York Police Department to programs that assist youth and community development.

Pirro said New York City police officers are already frustrated with the city’s law enforcement policies, and feel as though their hands are tied.

“This is a real problem,” Pirro said. “As homicides go up, arrests are going down. That bozo de Blasio has no idea what he’s talking about.”

Last month, city officials announced plans to disband the police force’s plainclothes anti-crime unit in an effort to build “trust with the community through respect, accountability, and transparency.”

The “Justice with Judge Jeanine” host said the move would primarily impact inner-city communities, many of whom are left “petrified.”

“You got de Blasio who is literally taking down law and order and yet these politicians … they have their own security,” she said.

“What about the rest of us?” Pirro added. “We are paying for law enforcement, we’re entitled to that security, and in the end, there will be a breakdown in society.

“It’s not going to be good,” the host concluded. “Say goodbye to New York City and you can thank Bill de Blasio and the people on the left.”

Fox News contributor and former House Intelligence Committee member Trey Gowdy told “Your World” Wednesday that if intelligence officials had deemed information that Russia offered Taliban-linked militants bounties for the deaths of American soldiers to be credible, President Trump would have been briefed on it immediately.

“By what quantum of information or evidence [do] you need to know something before you brief the commander-in-chief?” Gowdy asked host Neil Cavuto. “If there is a one percent chance it is true, are you going to tell him about it? Probably not.”

The White House has vehemently denied that President Trump was briefed on the issue despite reporting to the contrary. The New York Times reported late Monday that the bounty issue was in the written President’s Daily Brief earlier this year. It has been widely reported, however, that Trump does not read the detailed brief regularly, and is more often briefed on intelligence issues verbally.

TRUMP NATIONAL SECURITY ADVISOR ‘SURPRISED’ NYT PUBLISHED UNCORROBORATED INTEL

Gowdy told Cavuto that he trusted Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe, National Security Advisor Robert O’Brien, and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to bring credible allegations to the president’s attention, especially when they concern the lives of U.S. soldiers.

Ratcliffe recently “dropped his youngest daughter off at the Naval Academy, where she will begin a decade of service. Robert O’Brien has a child who wore the uniform. Mike Pompeo wore the uniform of this country,” Gowdy said.

“If they believe that Russians were setting bounties on soldiers, they would all three be in the president’s office before this interview ended,” he went on.

MCENANY: PELOSI ‘PLAYING POLITICS’ WITH ‘FALSE’ REPORTING ON RUSSIAN BOUNTIES FOR US TROOPS

Gowdy also scolded Democrats for politicizing the issue and using the opportunity to take shots at the administration.

“I know they don’t like President Trump. I know they don’t want him to get reelected, but this is military,” he said. “This is our country’s interest. What you are doing is maligning people like Ratcliffe and O’Brien and Pompeo, who would never allow bounties to be set on our soldiers, ever.”

Sean Hannity opened Tuesday’s edition of “Hannity” by panning Joe Biden‘s first press conference in three months, during which the former vice president defended his cognitive ability and said he “can hardly wait” to compare it to President Trump‘s as the general election campaign heats up.

The host spotlighted what he called a “very weird” moment during the question-and-answer period when Biden responded to a question by Fox News’ Doug McKelway by saying he was being “constantly tested” for any decline in his “cognitive capability.”

BIDEN EAGER TO COMPARE COGNITIVE ABILITY AGAINST TRUMP

“Let me get this straight,” Hannity said. “He’s constantly being tested for cognitive abilities? Why is Joe Biden getting constantly tested for a cognitive decline? After hearing that, I’m wondering if maybe all Americans need cognitive testing regularly.

BIDEN ACCUSES TRUMP OF ‘DERELICTION OF DUTY’ OVER RUSSIA BOUNTY REPORTS IN FIRST PRESS BRIEFING IN NEARLY 3 MONTHS

“That concerns me,” Hannity went on. “Does that concern the American people? Are they going to ask the ever-forgetful, weak Joe Biden why he’s being constantly tested for cognitive decline?”

Hannity accused the media of trying to protect Biden from difficult questions, arguing that aside from McKelway’s question, the presumptive Democratic nominee was given “the lollipop question treatment.”

Fox News’ Sean Hannity challenged billionaire Mark Cuban on “Hannity” Tuesday after the entrepreneur and Dallas Mavericks owner praised ObamaCare as Joe Biden‘s “biggest accomplishment” last week.

“Mark … the promise of ObamaCare, correct me if I’m wrong, was ‘Keep your doctor, keep your plan and save,'” Hannity said.

MARK CUBAN: IT’S TIME TO FACE THE FACT THAT PPP DIDN’T WORK

“The results are in,” the host continued. “Millions lost their doctors, millions lost their plan, on average the country is paying 200 percent more, nobody saved a penny … now, are you going to tell my audience that worked? You’re too smart for that.”

“I’m glad you read your whole list and you got it all written down,” Cuban shot back, “because the insurance rates were going up far faster until ObamaCare, [then] it slowed down. The inflation for the health care rates was skyrocketing until ObamaCare.”

The interview became more heated when Cuban tried to compare the Obama administration’s promise that “if you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor” to President Trump’s promise that the United States would build a wall along the southern border “and I will have Mexico pay for that wall.”

“Mexico is paying for the wall,” Hannity retorted. “You want to know how? We got a better trade deal.”

CUBAN: TRUMP JUST WANTS PEOPLE WHO ARE LOYAL TO HIM

“No we didn’t,” Cuban interjected. “Donald Trump doesn’t even know how tariffs work. I am going to give you something — I am going to give you some business advice —

“How did you become a billionaire?” the host asked. “Do I need to buy you a calculator?”

“So Sean, let me give you some business advice,” Cuban continued. “If you are going to negotiate, you don’t fall in love with dictators that you have to negotiate with –“

“Who fell in love with dictators?” Hannity interjected.

“It never works, and when they don’t love you back, it is even worse.” Cuban added.

At the end of the segment, Hannity pledged to invite the “Shark Tank” star back next week to continue the discussion.

Armed St. Louis homeowner speaks out: ‘When I saw that mob … I thought that we would be overrun in a second’

St. Louis resident Mark McCloskey broke his silence on “Tucker Carlson Tonight” Tuesday after he and his wife Patricia received national approbation for brandishing guns in the front yard of their home after protesters broke into their gated community.

“My wife and I were preparing to have dinner, maybe 70 feet from the gate,” McCloskey, 63, recalled.

“By the time we looked up and we saw the marchers coming down Kings Highway and getting loud, we looked over the gate and there’s no police there. Our private security wasn’t there. Nobody’s there.”

ST. LOUIS COUPLE DRAW WEAPONS ON PROTESTERS HEADED TO MAYOR’S HOUSE: REPORT

As the crowd moved closer toward his home, McCloskey explained that he had a sudden realization that he and his wife could soon fall victim to the violence and rioting that has overtaken parts of the city in recent weeks.

“People start coming in. And then a flood of people start coming in,” he said. “They are angry, they’re screaming, they’ve got spittle coming out of their mouth they’re coming toward the house …”

“I turned to my wife and I said, ‘Oh my God, we’re absolutely alone. There is nobody here to protect us.'”

It was at that point that the couple retrieved their guns and stood firmly on their front porch as depicted in the now-viral video posted to Twitter. McCloskey explained.

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT PORTLAND PLACE, WHERE ST. LOUIS COUPLE POINTED GUNS AT PROTESTERS

“When I saw that mob coming through the gate with their rage and their anger, I thought that we would be overrun in a second,” he said. “By the time I was out there with my rifle, the people were 20 or 30 feet from my front wall … I was literally afraid that within seconds they would surmount the wall and come into the house, kill us, burn the house down and everything that I had worked for and struggled for for the last 32 years.”

He went on, “I saw it all going up in flames and my life destroyed in an instant and I did what I thought I had to do to protect my hearth, my home and my family.”

McCloskey said he was offended by insinuations that his effort to protect his family was racially motivated, emphasizing that his 30-year career as a lawyer was largely focused on helping those “that need a voice.”

“I don’t understand,” he told Carlson. “Here’s the interesting thing, I spent my career defending people that are defenseless … This is what I do for a living. I help people that are down or that need a hand and people that need a voice.

“To call us racist is ridiculous and it had nothing to do with race. I wasn’t worried what the race was [of] the mob that came through my gate, I was worried that I was going to be killed. I didn’t care what race they were.”

Clyburn knocks activists who took down Ulysses S. Grant statue: ‘No one was more anti-slavery’

House Majority Whip James Clyburn, D-S.C., told “The Story” Tuesday that activists calling for the removal of statues across the country have gone a step too far by targeting depictions of George Washington and Ulysses S. Grant.

“I have no idea what they know or do not know,” Clyburn told host Martha MacCallum. “I know what I know … and I do know that no one was more anti-slavery than Ulysses S. Grant. Yet, I saw the other day that somebody interpreted his having married into a family of slave owners that he [was] disqualified.

“I could not disagree more,” Clyburn added. “I think that he ought to be judged on his own merit.”

STATUES OF WASHINGTON, GRANT VANDALIZED AMID BLM PROTESTS

Clyburn joined “The Story” hours after Joe Biden broached the subject during his first press conference in 89 days.

“I think all those Confederate monuments to Confederate soldiers and generals, et cetera, who strongly supported secession and the maintenance of slavery, and going to war to do it, I think those statues belong in a museum,” Biden said. “They don’t belong in public places.”

However, Biden also said that “the idea of comparing whether or not George Washington owned slaves or Thomas Jefferson owned slaves, and somebody who was in rebellion and committed treason trying to take down a union to keep slavery, I think there’s a distinction.”

“I think the vice president threaded the needle on that pretty well,” Clyburn said.

“I pretty much agree … the fact of the matter is, yes, he [Washington] was a slave owner. But do you remember what happened to his slaves at the end of his reign? He freed them.”

Clyburn went on, “Yes, Thomas Jefferson did own slaves. He never fought for the destruction of the country. He never tried to preserve slavery as a way of life in spite of what shortcomings he may have had.”

Without going into specifics, Clyburn said activists should focus on statues of people who “led insurrections against this country and fought to keep people enslaved.”

“Just remember,” he told MacCallum, ” I used to teach this stuff called history. I studied it every day and I know how to differentiate one from the other.”
