Writer E. Jean Carroll accused President Donald Trump of raping her at a New York City department store in the mid-1990s.
Carroll, who detailed the alleged assault in a forthcoming book and excerpt published Friday by New York Magazine, is among several women who have accused Trump of sexual misconduct or inappropriate behavior.
Trump has denied the accusations. On Saturday, he denied the allegations by Carroll and said: “I have no idea who this woman is.”
Here are the women who have accused Trump:
E. Jean Carroll
Carroll, a longtime advice columnist, wrote that she ran into Trump at Bergdorf Goodman. He was looking to buy a present for a “girl” and asked for Carroll’s help, she said. She pointed out handbags and hats, but Trump suggested lingerie and asked Carroll to try on a piece, though she countered that he should try it on. Inside the dressing room, Carroll says, Trump forced himself on her. Carroll claimed Trump “opens the overcoat, unzips his pants, and, forcing his fingers around my private area, thrusts his penis halfway – or completely, I’m not certain – inside me.” The episode lasted no longer than three minutes, Carroll said.
Leeds claimed Trump grabbed her breasts and tried to put his hand up her skirt during a flight to New York in the 1970s. In a 2017 interview, Leeds said that when she saw Trump at a fund-raising gala three years after the airplane encounter, he referred to her as a c—.
Anderson, a photographer and former model, accused Trump of moving up her leg, reaching under her skirt and fondling her while she was at a New York night club in the 1990s.
Harth claimed Trump made several unwanted sexual advances on her, including trying to put his hands between her legs during a business meeting. She said in 2003 at Mar-a-Lago he “pushed me up against the wall, and had his hands all over me and tried to get up my dress again.” Harth sued Trump in 1997, accusing him of sexual harassment but later dropped it after Trump settled a separate breach of contract suit.
Heller said Trump manhandled and kissed her during a brunch at Mar-a-Lago in the 1990s. She alleged he grew angry when she tried to twist away, but he held her until he kissed her on the lips.
Temple Taggart McDowell
The former Miss Utah competed in the 1997 Miss USA pageant. She said Trump embraced her and kissed her on the lips during a rehearsal. Later, after Trump offered to get her modeling contracts, he again embraced and kissed her in New York.
Virginia alleged she met Trump in 1998 while waiting for a car service to pick her up from the U.S. Open tennis tournament in New York. As he walked toward her, she said, he made comments about her to male companions: “Hey, look at this one, we haven’t seen her before, look at those legs,” Trump said, according to Virginia. She said that she was “in shock” after Trump grabbed her right arm and touched her breast, asking her: “Don’t you know who I am?”
McGillivray said she was groped by Trump at Mar-a-Lago in 2003. She said she initially thought her friend’s camera bag brushed against her, but quickly realized it was actually Trump’s hand. “If he’d accidentally nudged me he could have said excuse me, but he said nothing,” she said in a TV appearance, adding, “he knew what he did.”
Crooks alleged Trump forcibly kissed her while waiting for an elevator at Trump Tower in 2006. At the time, Crooks was a receptionist at a real estate firm in the building.
The former People writer said she had a run-in with Trump while she was covering him and Melania Trump, then pregnant, in 2005. Stoynoff said she went to Mar-a-Lago to interview the Trumps for a story about their first anniversary. Trump shut the door after he and Stoynoff walked into a room together and forced “his tongue down my throat,” she said. Trump’s longtime butler burst into the room a minute later as she tried to unpin herself, Stoynoff said, and announced that Melania would be down shortly and that it was time to resume the interview.
The former Miss Finland said Trump groped her in 2006 before she appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman with Trump and other Miss Universe contestants.
The former “Apprentice” contestant has accused the president of sexual misconduct, including kissing and groping her in the years after she left the show. She has filed suit against him, saying he made defamatory remarks about her after she came forward with her story.
The former Fox News anchor accused Trump of trying to kiss her in an elevator in 2005 or 2006. Huddy, who made the allegation on a radio show in December 2017, said she and Trump were returning from a lunch when Trump leaned over and tried to kiss her on the lips in an elevator in Trump Tower. Huddy, who left a New York Fox affiliate after receiving a settlement in a sexual-harassment complaint against host Bill O’Reilly, said she didn’t feel threatened by her encounter with Trump but called it a “weird” moment. She said that Trump referenced the moment later when he appeared on her TV show and said, “I tried hitting on her, but she blew me off.”
The former campaign staffer accused Trump of trying to forcibly kiss her before a campaign rally in Tampa in August 2016. Johnson, who filed a lawsuit that also claimed Trump discriminated against her based on her race and gender, said Trump grabbed her by the hand in an RV before the rally and tried to kiss her on the mouth. Johnson said she attempted to thwart his advances by turning her head, but that Trump made his move anyway and that his kiss landed on the corner of her mouth. A Florida judge dismissed Johnson’s suit on July 14, calling it “a political lawsuit” but suggesting she would be allowed to file an amended complaint.
The former Miss Washington competed in the 2013 Miss USA pageant and said Trump groped her and invited her back to his hotel room.
The former Miss New Hampshire competed in the 2000 Miss USA pageant. She described him hugging her “a little low on your back” and said he walked through dressing rooms during the pageant even though many of the women weren’t dressed. “We were all naked,” she told Buzzfeed.
The former Miss Arizona described meeting Trump while she competed in the 2001 Miss USA pageant. She also said Trump came into rehearsal while women were changing, with some topless and others naked.
A former “Apprentice” contestant and a former Miss Oregon, Murphy said Trump kissed her during a job interview in 2005. After she told her story in 2016, she said she still planned on voting for Trump.
